What is Salik?

The Salik toll gate system was introduced in 2007 in an attempt to reduce road congestion and allow traffic to flow smoothly.

A Salik tag or sticker needs to be placed in every vehicle that passes through a Salik gate. Failure to install a tag will result in fines that can go up to AED 400 if motorists pass through gates without the tag.

Salik tags are available online and at all petrol stations. Once purchased, this tag must be placed on the front shield of the vehicle. You can check your account balance by calling 800-Salik (80072545), through the RTA or DubaiNow apps, or by visiting www.salik.ae.

If your balance is insufficient, you must recharge your account before passing through a Salik toll gate. If your account isn’t recharged within 5 days after passing through a gate, a fine of AED 50 will be enforced.
