Akshara International School, Pune

Akshara was established in 2007 as a per-primary school and is located at Wakad in Pune (near the Hinjewadi IT park). It is affiliated to the national CBSE, Delhi board till Senior Secondary (Class XII) and has consistently given 100% academic results in the Board exams. For holistic development of each child it provides performing arts classes and a sports program along with NCC. School was selected by Niti Aayog for setting up of an Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) for STEM education.

Mission

“Akshara” from the Sanskrit signifies “Imperishable” and “Inexhaustible” and thus the name chosen for this institution of lifelong learning.
The school mission is “to nurture a global outlook by equipping each student to creatively and critically think with a good balance of knowledge values and life skills which will help them to face with resilience, the challenges of life and inculcate a sense of responsibility towards the needs of self and society in the 21st century”.

Credo

Education at Akshara is based on 3 core beliefs:

In the Primary Section our aim is to establish a strong foundation for future learning in each child by blending the traditional 3R (Reading, Writing and Arithmetic) skills with following 4C’s skills required in the 21st century.

In addition there is a focus on Character building based on Indian value system and laying the seeds for a Global Citizenship mindset.

Akshara believes that the school curriculum should take care of holistic development (physical, intellectual, logical and spiritual) of its pupils. At the primary level, it offers a broad multidisciplinary and balanced curriculum to enable learning through a structured schooling program. The focus is on:

The teaching approach is centered around activity-based experiential learning to stimulate the development of multiple intelligences, inherent in each child.

We do this by adopting the modern methods of teaching like use of LCD projectors, Audio-Visual, Story Method, Exploration and Research, Group Discussions (Debate) to make learning effective and an enjoyable experience.
