In a culturally diverse and historically rich town, Alberton High School has stood proud for 44 years being the first English high school in the area. The biggest drive that continues to allow our school to grow from strength to strength are the learners themselves.

They aren’t just children attending school but rather thriving individuals from which the staff are able to draw so much inspiration from. As a result the teachers are positively challenged on a daily basis to improve on every lesson and every practice and make each one better than the one before.

While academic endeavours are at the core it is the external factors that piece to together the puzzle that makes our school a family. There exists a passion for community building which is no easy task to undertake but one that makes every person who encounters our school loved and cared for.

The open hearts, the kind words and actions have had and will continue to have a lasting impact not just at school level but for the Alberton community for decades to come. Talent is identified; creativity is nurtured and excellence is achieved at Alberton High School.

With the code of Conduct for learners we aim to promote orderly and effective teaching and also guide the learner towards the development/acquisition of self-discipline.

  • The aim is to establish a disciplined school environment, committed to the improvement and maintenance of the quality of learning.
  • The code of conduct has been approved by the Governing Body and has been discussed with the learners.
  • Learners wearing the incorrect school uniform and without an ID card and school diary may be asked to leave the school premises.
  • Repeated offence of the code of conduct can lead to a disciplinary hearing.

Alberton High School has a long, proud history of outstanding academic achievements in various subjects.
Not only are our learners regular award recipients, but are our teachers are too, with many of them winning district awards for their subject.

Alberton High School offers a wide variety of subjects to learners. Each of our departments is staffed by capable and well-qualified teachers with a true passion for the subject they offer instruction in.

It is our belief at Alberton High School that participation is fundamental to a successful school and that our learners should participate in at least one activity per term, but this choice is ultimately left to the sole discretion of each and every learner.

At AHS we strive to maintain the right approach and attitude towards sporting activities, therefore offering wide range of sporting codes in which learners have the opportunity not only to participate, but also to excel.

It is our desire to enrich the lives of our learners by exposing them to opportunities in the Cultural Field which they might not otherwise experience. We encourage participation in at least one cultural area to facilitate the development of the whole self. It is our belief that participation in cultural aspects of life develops the ability to enter the public world with poise, grace and confidence.

At Alberton High School we attempt to provide numerous opportunities for learners to broaden their horizons with regard to Cultural Activities.

The wide range of cultural activities on offer includes:

  • Public Speaking (Speech and Drama College S.A.) – two teams per grade
  • House Plays (Interhouse competition) – four houses
  • Alberton Eisteddfod – Art, Afrikaans, English, Vocal, Instrumental, Dance, Public Speaking
