Aldersbrook Primary School is situated at the heart of the Aldersbrook community, surrounded by leafy Wanstead Park, which forms part of Epping Forest.Aldersbrook is a local authority controlled co-educational three-form-entry school for children aged 5 - 11, plus 52 part-time nursery places. The School values being part of the Aldersbrook community, but also welcomes children and families from other areas. Outside we have two large playgrounds with safe climbing apparatus, seated areas, markings for games, trees and flower beds. We also operate an allotment on which the children take an active role in planting and growing their own vegetables and flowers. We make the school a stimulating and lively place to learn and encourage the children to take pride in the buildings and grounds.

We believe that when learners are curious they ask questions about the world around them and learning becomes a part of their whole life; beyond the walls of the classroom and the school gate. Curiosity builds a love of learning and a drive to discover answers for themselves. We believe that when children are confident they maintain a voice, they articulately and respectfully speak out; ensuring their opinions are heard and they are thereby increasingly instrumental in their own learning.

We know that when learners are independent they have a greater understanding of what helps them to learn and how they can find strategies to improve. Our Montessori approach to learning in our Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 builds these skills, which are reinforced as children travel through the school. Our curriculum strives to foster all of these skills in our pupils, starting with our Montessori approach to learning in Early Years and Key Stage 1 and incorporating our innovative curriculum offer including Forest School, the termly ‘Big Question’, ‘Green Fingers’ learning on our school allotment and our termly ‘Curiosity Shop’ options.

As a learner at Aldersbook you have the right to make progress and learn in a safe and stimulating place. We all accept that with rights come responsibilities; everybody who is part of the Aldersbrook community is responsible for contributing to its continual growth and for safeguarding everyone’s wellbeing (physical, social and emotional). As a parent at Aldersbrook you have the right to expect your child to enjoy their learning and make progress. You also have the right to expect that we will do all we can to ensure your child’s safety and wellbeing. We look forward to working together to ensure that every individual achieves their potential through high expectations for all.

To make learning an enjoyable and challenging experience, preparing our pupils for life. To ensure all pupils and staff achieve as highly as possible.Aldersbrook will be a successful learning culture, which will enable pupils to become effective, enthusiastic and independent learners for life.Values are principles that guide behaviour. At Aldersbrook adults are encouraged to model values and to give time for discussion and reflection. We believe that this empowers individuals to be effective learners and good citizens.

Our Values-based education philosophy underpins our work to actively promote fundamental British values of democracy, individual liberty, mutual respect and acceptance of those from all faiths, backgrounds and cultures. A rounded programme of assemblies and events promote children's spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, enabling them to develop their own moral and ethical compass to guide what is right and what is wrong. At Aldersbrook Primary school we believe that learning should be challenging, creative and fun. We all work hard to ensure that our school is a safe and happy place. We are a school where difference is celebrated and everyone is given the opportunity to shine.

Very good inclusive school which my daughter attends. It is rated outstanding by OFSTED and rightly so. I would highly recommend this school to any parent thinking of sending their children there.

My son is in in year 3 and only positive experience want to share. School security is well established, learning activities is well scheduled and the bullying issues is strongly unaccepted and dealt straight away if any. Teachers, most important, with a great "common sense".
