The Education Sector in Bahrain is passing through an important time whereby we are assisting to a number of changes. However, these changes require the strengthening of our workforce mainly the teaching profession on two levels: first level those who have been in the teaching profession continue to upgrade their skills to adapt to these changes and implement these changes into the classroom and on second level those who are pursuing their studies as teachers are well prepared to enter the classroom and become the educators of Bahrain’s future society.
Thus, we carry an important role within the Bahraini society whereby we are here not only to transmit the acquired knowledge through our studies and continuous professional development, but to form children and youth who will become the future leaders of our country. Through our way of being we pass our beliefs and our attitudes which surely leave an indelible mark on the lives of those who we encounter in our schools in a positive or negative way… hopefully in a positive way!

Our partnership with parents and the community to provide appropriate learning opportunities for students is part of our philosophy to prepare students for a rapidly changing world.
Alia’s curriculum is a developmental-based program concerned with the development of the whole child, emphasizing social, intellectual, emotional and physical growth. At Alia, the teachers carefully plan open-ended and child-directed activities and emphasis is placed on the value of play, learning environments and developmentally appropriate materials and activities. Our philosophy is that children learn through active and child-initiated play, through direct contact with concrete objects, through repeated positive experiences, and most of all, they learn through interactions with people who are important to them.
Our parents are encouraged to use their special talents during their teaching time at school to make our school a nurturing and safe environment for the children. They can help the child use inductive thinking by using such encouragements as “I wonder what would happen if…?” or “Where do you suppose this came from?” By doing this, the parent shares the child’s wonder and enjoys the newness of discovery along with him. Parents are scheduled through a rotation of parent-teacher jobs including art, cooking, creative play, music and movement, outdoor supervision, observation, and special projects.
Our students are very respectful. This leads to a peaceful school climate. Visitors to our school will frequently notice students demonstrating respectful mannerisms, greeting adults in our building and being courteous. As well, our building conveys a sense of warmth, generosity, and enthusiasm as children, parents, and staff are eager to smile and make all those who enter our school feel welcome.
We are committed to providing a safe, positive learning environment for our students. Our motto, Working Hard to Be Our Best!, suggests an important element of education. It reflects the effort we encourage each of our students to put into his or her learning. We take pride in working hard to motivate each student to do his or her best. Our Staff is also dedicated to doing their best. Working together with students and parents, we strive to ensure that each individual student has the opportunity to develop to their full potential.
We promote a solid foundation to early learning through our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programming. We have proudly implemented an Approach which encompasses a natural aspect of children at play and environmental learning. At Alia School, children are seen as capable learners who construct their learning rather than have constant instruction. Their learning environment becomes an additional teacher.
