Ashbury College is an independent school registered with the Gauteng Department of Education and accredited by UMALUSI (17 SCHO1 00327). Ashbury College was started in 1994 at its current location in Fairleads Benoni as a Combined School, educating students from pre-grade R to grade 12.

Educating a child is similar to cultivating a tree. In both cases, the objective is to provide them with their needs to help them grow. At Ashbury College, we would like to provide the environment and elements needed for your child to grow from a small seedling at ECD to a strong, fruitful tree in Grade 12. When you come to think of it, a child needs the very same things a tree does in order to grow. Earth. Water. Sun. Air.

Most important of all is to remember that being a gardener, or in our case educators and parents is a full time job. It's our job to tend to the precious seedlings that has been placed in our care. Ashbury College – Together we Grow.

Early Childhood Development (ECD) can be defined as the physical, cognitive and social development that a child experiences prior to the learner reaching his/her preparatory school entering age. ECD therefore lays the groundwork for successful learning supporting the child to progress into, and adapt to, formal schooling.

Our approach is one of recognising the inherent holistic nature of the child thus seeking to develop all aspects of every child being social, emotional, intellectual, aesthetic and physical potential. This is implemented through active participation in a structured programme.

At Ashbury College Preparatory we encourage each child to reach their full potential in the classroom by providing individual attention, extra tuition and learning beyond the curriculum to extend their “fertile minds”. Ashbury Preparatory prides itself in a full extra-curricular programme, where we motivate all our pupils to participate in sporting, cultural and community outreach programmes.

The College was established in 2006 on request from the primary school parents. In 2010 we had our first class of matriculants. Our mission is to provide a holistic education based on sound norms and values in a caring and nurturing environment where students are encouraged to reach their full potential in the classroom, on the sports field and in cultural activities.

Strong emphasis is placed on preparing the grade 12’s for life after school. Our school logo is a tree and as trees grow older they get stronger, bear fruit and provide shade for others. This is also our dream for our matriculants, to bear the fruit of their hard work and become valuable members of society.
