Job Summary

• The University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) invites applications for position in Large Animal Surgery. This position will be at the Assistant (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (tenure-track or with tenure) rank with an expectation of 20-30% of the appointment devoted to research and the remainder of the assignment focused on clinical, didactic, and laboratory teaching of undergraduate students and interns. UCVM employs a distributed veterinary teaching hospital and clinical rotation teaching will occur in partner specialty practices.
• Qualifications include a DVM (or equivalent) and advanced clinical training in Large Animal Surgery, with board certification or eligibility (ACVS). Instruction of food animal surgery will be a major requirement of this position. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a record of accomplishment of teaching and research in the area of food animal surgery. A graduate degree is considered an asset. The candidate must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the province of Alberta.
• Applicants at the Assistant Professor level must present a strong publication record, and evidence of successful undergraduate teaching.
• Applicants at the Associate Professor level must be able to provide evidence of an established, externally funded research program, a strong publication record, and evidence of successful teaching and graduate supervision.
