Job Summary

We are looking for a new scientific staff member to reinforce our expertise, in close collaboration with existing staff members and strategic partners in the innovation ecosystem. Potential topics of specialization include, but are not limited to,

  • Future wireless communication systems,
  • Source coding and error control coding,
  • Information-theoretic security,
  • Digital signal processing and digital communications,
  • Visible light communications,
  • Quantum information theory,
  • Machine learning and its applications, and
  • Sensing and positioning including radars.

Tasks:

The candidate pursues top-level research in the broad field of communication and information theory. The research combines academic excellence with real-world relevance, with due account for issues such as algorithmic efficiency, elegance, and robustness. The candidate actively collaborates with other staff members and with strategic partners in the innovation ecosystem, and contributes to the acquisition of funds for these projects. He/she coaches graduate, post-graduate and PhD students, and contributes to the educational activities of the group at undergraduate and graduate level.

Job requirements

Candidates for this position should have a strong fundamentally-oriented PhD degree in communication or information theory, an extensive publication record in leading journals, and a demonstrable affinity with real-world applications. They should be pro-active and entrepreneurial, have excellent analytic and synthetic skills, excellent communication skills, good social and team working skills, and a demonstrable interest in and talent for teaching and the ambition to improve teaching performance by taking part in educational training programmes.

  • A Tenure Track of five years with the prospect of becoming associate professor. After a maximum of 4 years the tenure decision will be made. If you have a more senior profile, you will receive a tailor-made career proposal.
