Assistant Professor Sociological and Anthropological Studies

Job Summary

The School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies wishes to fill a regular tenure-track faculty position as part of the development of its new professional master’s program in sociology. The ideal candidate is interested in the mobilization – identification, analysis-interpretation and communication – of sociological research findings (quantitative and qualitative) as an object of knowledge and/or as a tool for policy development in different professional settings (government, community, the private sector, etc.).

The specific field of research is open, but a demonstrable ability to mobilize sociological knowledge in a professional and practical setting remains crucial. Candidates whose publications, research record, and professional background match this profile are invited to submit their applications.

Duties

• Conducting research and publishing activities;
• Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, but with a specific focus on the Professional MA program;
• Supervising Master’s and Ph.D. candidates;
• Participating in the School’s and the University’s academic and administrative activities;
• Other activities as specified in the collective agreement.

Qualifications

• Hold a Ph.D. in sociology, or in a related field;
• Demonstrate excellence or the potential for excellence in teaching and research;
• Possess a strong publication and research track record;
• Professional research experience in community organizations, government departments, or survey or research companies would be an asset;
• The ability to teach in both official languages.
