The position is within the Division of Structures, Materials and Geotechnics. The research in the division includes analyses of complex, load-bearing structures such as offshore structures, wind turbines, shell structures and large bridges. Analyses are carried out for complete structures, for structural details such as joints, and at the micro level for the materials used in these applications.
The position has focus on service life extension by the use of capacity upgrading methods and sustainable design related to concrete structures with a specific focus on experimental testing and the use of fiber reinforced polymer materials (FRP) as a mean to provide additional reinforcement and/or expansions to existing concrete structures.
The objective of the position is to strengthen the department’s activities related to experimental verification of concrete structures in the range from component to full scale and thus provide an extended basis for novel theoretical developments.
For the vacant position, the research areas include service life extension of concrete structures by the use of response and capacity upgrading methods, FRP reinforcement and structures, experimental laboratory and In-situ verification methods, novel monitoring approaches, related modeling and sustainable concrete design methods.
The position includes close industrial research collaboration as well as teaching and supervision on bachelor and masters level with extended supervision tasks on Ph.D. level. The position includes teaching within the areas of concrete analysis and design, FRP strengthening and reinforcement methods as well as within the area of theory and experimental verifications.
The candidate must have a good academic record in the area of the position, and with documented research experience within service life extension of existing civil structures by the use of the above mentioned methods. The candidate must furthermore have a good record on industry collaboration within the field.
The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.
