Job Summary

Applications are invited for an Associate Professor position in the field of Exoplanets within the Astrophysics Group at the Department of Space and Climate Physics (Mullard Space Science Laboratory), UCL.

The successful applicant will be expected to pursue a vigorous research programme to boost the fast-growing exoplanet research environment at MSSL. This already includes a strong involvement in ESA’s PLATO satellite mission and a new exoplanet research group, as well as a strong Solar System research component. In addition, ESA’s Ariel mission is led from our sister Department of Physics & Astronomy at UCL. Applicants should have internationally leading research records, and we are particularly interested in candidates who can maximise the scientific return from our substantial involvements in PLATO. The candidate will also fulfill a teaching responsibility at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Key Requirements

The post holder should hold a PhD in a relevant field and have a command of the scientific field of exoplanets which shows both breadth and depth. A record of securing research funds to support their research programme and an international research profile with commensurate, sustained research or other outcomes appropriate to the discipline are also essential requirements. The postholder should have the ability to supervise PhD students and be able to work collaboratively.
