Job Summary

Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Health- and Social Sciences, has available a permanent position as Ph.D/Associate Professor in Radiography, Workplace is Campus Bergen.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Teaching, supervision, professional development and research within the field of radiography and/or medical imaging
  • Supervision of students, skills training and evaluation
  • Participate in institution-building activities, such as coordination of study courses and internationalization
  • Cooperation with partners within HVL, external educational institutions and collaborators, both nationally and internationally

Qualifications:

Education:

  • For the position as Associate Professor, a doctoral degree or equivalent competence in radiography or other relevant field within health science or medicine is required. For candidates without a doctoral degree, documentation of scientific competence within radiography/medical imaging, health science or medicine relevant for the position is required
  • Preferably authorization as radiographer
  • For applicants without radiography education, documentation of competence in relevant professional or scientific field within medical imaging is required
  • Relevant working experience within medical imaging
  • Pedagogical experience
  • Good skills in oral and written English, while skills in a Scandinavian language is an advantage. However, if lacking, the candidate must acquire Norwegian language competence at minimum B2 level (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) within three years.
  •  Good competence in information technology (IT)

Desirable qualifications:

  • Authorization as radiographer or other relevant background and work experience in medical imaging such as radiology or medical physics
  • Qualifications within one or more of the following disciplines related to medical imaging: magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), applied technology, image processing, image interpretation, artificial intelligence (AI), e-health or innovation.
  • Formal pedagogical competence
  • Experience of teaching and mentoring at higher educational level
  • Experience of and interest in domestic and international research collaboration, and of application for external research funds, nationally and internationally.
  • Experience in dissemination of research

Personal characteristics:

  • Ability to work independently and be responsible
  • Interest in strengthening research and professional development at the bachelor programme in radiography
  • Ability to take initiative, both in professional and social activities to contribute to a good work environment
  • Ability to cooperate and be positive
  • Good communication skills

Application procedure:

The applicants are responsible for ensuring that all the documentation is submitted before the closing date, including the scientific work (up to 15 pieces), complete publication list, certificates and diplomas. If the diplomas, transcripts or other documentation are not in a Scandinavian language or English, the applicant must upload the certified transactions himself. If the attachments exceed 15 MB, they must be compressed before uploading or attaching as a link.

The position as Ph.D/Associate professor is paid according to the Government’s salary regulation, in position code 1011/1198. There is a compulsory 2 % deduction to the pension fund. The successful applicant must comply with the guidelines that apply to the position at any time.
