Most non-government schools in Australia are affiliated with a religious denomination such as Catholic schools and Anglican schools. Our school is non-denominational. What that means is that our staff attend different churches and our school is not aligned to one denomination.
When we use the term “Christian” we refer to the accounts of Jesus Christ found in the Bible. Jesus Christ said and did many remarkable things but the most amazing thing that he did for us is that he died on the cross so that we could have a relationship with God through faith. If you have a moment, the best video that we’ve found that explains this is called “Falling Plates“.
Christians believe that faith in Jesus answers the big questions in life and it also compels us to be loving and generous to the people around us. Ultimately, we want to tell other people about Jesus and we want to make a positive impact in the world. If you’ve never considered the claims of the Christian faith.
The Preschool at Australian Christian College runs a 15 hour government funded Kindergarten Program and a 3 year old Pre-Kinder Program. The Kindergarten Program provides a gentle transition into school life and a preparation for Prep, thus increasing the chances that your child will have a positive start at school.
A qualified early childhood teacher leads the program and the children are involved in readiness skills to prepare them for Prep. The benefits of Kinder include:
While the Kinder program is predominantly play-based, children also participate in:
The children attend classes alongside the mainstream primary classes and participate in weekly School Services and performances at the end of the first and third terms. Australian Christian College proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all aspects of school life. As such, our Christian faith underpins the learning program.
As a result of attending this school, your child will become an ‘investigative learner’ who seek answers, research thoroughly, explore new ways, create alternatives, challenge assumptions, think deeply and test theories. This approach to education ensures your child’s brain is not simply filled with knowledge, but that he or she gains a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
Australian Christian College operates a three and four year old Kindergarten. The four year old program is funded and conforms to the Commonwealth Government’s Early Years Learning Framework. After Kindergarten, your child’s learning program continues from Prep to Year 6. The learning program has a rigorous emphasis on the core subjects of Maths and English.
Your child will also study Humanities, Science, Health & Physical Education, Art, Music, Drama, Japanese and Bible during their time at Australian Christian College. A great experience in the first years of schooling can make all of the difference as your child develops.
