BASIS International Schools Hangzhou

The first BASIS Curriculum School was founded by two economists, Michael and Olga Block, in 1998. With great prescience, they understood that in the 21st century we can no longer define educational opportunity in terms of a city, a state or even a nation. With technology and globalization changing our professional lives so dramatically, BASIS Curriculum Schools network built 64 schools across America, China, South-East Asia and Europe that seek to empower students with the capacity to navigate a rapidly changing and interconnected world.

BASIS International School Hangzhou is one of the priority projects overseen by Jianggan District Government in Hangzhou. The campus is located at the heart of Qianjiang New Town, next to where the Grand Canal meets the Qiantang River. The area is known as the central business district of Hangzhou, featuring high-rise buildings, commercial centers, and modern landmarks. The campus covers an area of 19,600 square meters and a building area of 23,667 square meters, including a 5,000-square-meter sports field, a 200-meter running track, a soccer field, volleyball courts, and an 800-square-meter gym.

Opened in August 2018, BASIS International School Hangzhou can serve up to 1,200 students from PreK1 to Grade 12. In its founding year, BASIS International School Hangzhou was accredited by AdvancED and authorized by the College Board as an AP and PSAT test center, later an SAT test center in the 2019-20 school year.
