Bay View Academy, Defence Campus

Bay View Academy was established in 1990 and moved to its first purpose built campus in Defence, Phase VIII in 1999. Defence Campus houses 1100 students from Nursery to Class XI in two buildings. Founding Directors Ms. Safia Shaikh and Mr. Shahpur Jamall fulfil the roles of Director Administration and Director of Academics respectively.

Academic achievement is one of our strengths and enables our students to gain admission in the best colleges and universities. However, we realize that academic excellence is not the sole determinant of success. In the information age, the pool of knowledge is vast and the demand for the relevant skills and expertise changes rapidly. Therefore, we strive to inculcate both the desire to learn and the ability to employ knowledge purposefully.

We seek to provide our students with “a quality, life enhancing educational experience in a positive learning environment”; a space in which each individual can fulfill their potential rather than being cast in a mould, by developing confidence and self-belief, which enables life long learning as well as initiative and innovative thinking.

We believe that our success is based on the commitment of the people who make up our school community. This commitment comes from an ethos of care and growth that is a defining characteristic of Bay View Academy. When students feel a genuine sense of care from their teacher, they want to work for them. Equally when teachers feel that the administration is committed to their well-being, growth and development, they make the extra effort that their profession demands.

We are committed to constantly improving ourselves through evaluation and training. Our teachers, administrators and directors avail development opportunities both locally and internationally. Our curriculum, resources and campuses are constantly reviewed and upgraded because we know that to remain stagnant is to fall behind. It is not the exceptional grades on O-Level transcripts that are a testament to our success, but the confident and empathetic character of our alumni.
