Welcome to Bensham Manor School. At the heart of everything we do are our students and we aim to provide a positive environment where children can flourish. We strive for them to reach their full potential regardless of their additional needs.
Bensham Manor School is a large oversubscribed secondary special school for students with a wide range of special needs. We make provision for students who have statements of educational needs which include; autism, complex needs, speech, language and communication difficulties. Our aim is to recognise and respond to the individual needs of students and provide them with a relevant and challenging curriculum. We have a Post 16 provision on site. All students have an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which is reviewed annually. We work hard to ensure students are successful and we celebrate and recognise achievement and effort in all areas of the curriculum. Our close partnership with parents and carers is instrumental in supporting students to make their best progress. We work hard to make sure students are safe and happy and we are always willing to hear what you think we can do better.
Our curriculum is student-centred and our teaching is inspiring, stimulating and challenging. Our staff are appointed for their knowledge, passion, enthusiasm and their imagination in communicating with students to ensure that every single child in is engaged, excited and challenged by the learning experience at all times.
Our vision is to empower students so that they are able to take control of their own future and have enhanced life chances as a result of learning with us. We want our students to:
The 244 secondary aged students with complex needs including SLCN and Autism who attend Bensham Manor come from across the London Borough of Croydon and occasionally from neighbouring authorities if their specific SEN cannot be met elsewhere. All Students have an Educational Health and Care plan.
Bensham Manor School recognises that our learners have a range of learning styles and abilities in KS4. We have a developed a curriculum to meet the needs of each of our pupils offering them a learning opportunity that will meet their learning style, prepare them for College or Post 16 provision. Pupils have access to learning outside the classroom. Visits and offsite activities are incorporated into the curriculum by subject specialist teachers and the Duke of Edinburgh Co- ordinator.
