As a world-class, independent Jesuit preparatory school, BC High has formed leaders across every field- and every walk of life- for more than 150 years. Starting in 7th grade and continuing throughout high school, BC High students tackle complex, relevant subject matter within an academic environment that celebrates collaboration, creativity, and multidisciplinary thought.

Our challenging curriculum combines the best contemporary learning models with a reflective spirituality that fosters students' knowledge - both of the wider world and of themselves. Our location in the dynamic city of Boston plays a vital role in exposing students to a variety of experiences; our extensive Jesuit network expands their horizons across the globe.

BC High students graduate fully committed to succeed at college and in their careers. More importantly, they emerge as caring and compassionate citizens of the world, committed to justice. They are members of a brotherhood who act in the spirit of our Jesuit founders: for the greater glory of God.

From just a few miles away at Boston College and Harvard, to thousands of miles away at Stanford and even NYU Shanghai – our Eagles have soared far and wide. In their four years at BC High these young men learned to pursue the magis, learned to tirelessly strive for that which lights them on fire. This past year their journey culminated in remarkable moments on Kairos retreats, two National Merit Scholarship winners, four state championships, and an ambitious production of Les Misérables. They leave us with the grace of God and the deep love of this community.

Our students will learn, as all our 15,000 living alumni have, that whether the goal is learning a new language, getting a role in the spring musical, or making the roster of a fall sport – they are not alone. The young men beside them, our faculty and staff members, and their family will be constant companions in any endeavor. We come from different families, towns, and backgrounds – but at BC High we are one team.

Our goal as a school this year is to undergo a process known as “Sponsorship Review”. Every five years the Society of Jesus asks us to undergo a Mission Examen entailing a year of self-study and reflection. Through this review, the Jesuits ask us to articulate the fidelity of our promise to our families and students. We are asked to state the case for our mission and Ignatian identity. It is a powerful opportunity for collaboration and interaction between our departments, our students and their parents, and our alumni.

We strive to challenge our students to become young men of integrity, educated in faith and for justice, committed to academic excellence and service to others. As a Jesuit, Catholic high school, we strive to reflect the diversity of our church and community. Our mission since 1863 has been to form leaders of competence, conscience and compassion who seek to do all things ad majorem Dei gloriam – for the greater glory of God.

The program of formation at Boston College High School has endeavored to develop, in each of the students, characteristics and qualities that reflect the tradition and ideals of Jesuit education. Each student has been provided with and, hopefully, generously responded to, the challenge to become a young man who is Open to Growth, Intellectually Competent, Religious, Loving, and Committed to Doing Justice.
