Welcome to Broadgreen Primary School. We offer a caring ethos and we are justifiably proud of all of our pupils. As an inclusive school we welcome children from the whole community to our happy environment where all pupils come to enjoy and achieve. Here at Broadgreen Primary we strive to 'Succeed and Achieve Together.

We are proud of the standards our pupils achieve at the end of each key stage and also of the wider opportunities we give to all our pupils. We deliver the national curriculum through an inquiry based curriculum whilst valuing the importance of PHSE, additionally we deliver Philosophy for Children sessions in all year groups.

When pupils leave our school we hope that they are leaving as confident, caring internationally minded pupils who have high aspirations for their own future and who have fond memories of the time they have spent here at Broadgreen Primary.

We have recently achieved the Silver Award in both the Liverpool Counts Quality Mark and the Liverpool Reading Quality Mark.

We believe that British Values are implicit within everything we do here at Broadgreen Primary, through our work on democracy with the School Council, Liverpool School's Parliament, our Eco Team, through the range of topics we cover in our curriculum and within our whole school ethos of Care and Respect for all. We deliver P4C sessions which develop enquiring minds and encourage pupils to respect differing viewpoints, we are a Stonewall Champion school and we continually celebrate diversity through our curriculum and assemblies.

Broadgreen Primary is a happy, thriving, inclusive community where our children feel safe and valued and where together we aim to excel. We inspire all pupils through collaborative and creative learning experiences, enabling them to achieve their goals by providing high quality teaching in a stimulating environment. Our school promotes care, togetherness and respect for all.

At Broadgreen Primary School we want our pupils to have a meaningful curriculum, which prepares our pupils to be citizens of modern Britain. We aim to do this by allowing our children to be independent learners with greater involvement in their work, where they can reach their full potential.

We teach the National Curriculum, comprising the core subjects of: Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Science and Computing, along with the foundation subjects: History, Geography, Design and Technology, Art and Design, Music, Physical Education and Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education.

Here at Broadgreen Primary School we deliver the National Curriculum by utilising a range of different teaching and learning strategies. We are proud to have the Basic Skills Quality Mark (renewed July 2016) in recognition of the emphasis we place upon reading, writing and maths.

Each day our pupils experience high quality teaching of English, including reading and phonics and Maths and where possible these will be linked to their Curriculum Units of Inquiry. We utilise different reading schemes and reading materials to support the teaching of reading in our school.Computing (ICT) is integrated across all subject areas. For both English and Maths we follow the School Improvement Liverpool plans.

Each year group follows a unit of inquiry each half term. Pupils also input their own ideas to the unit of inquiry. We are reviewing these units each half term and so they may be subject to change throughout the year.

At Broadgreen Primary School we believe that reading for pleasure is key to success. All children are encouraged to love reading a wide variety of material: books, magazines, newspapers and to read online. A love of reading is shared by all our staff.

At Broadgreen Primary School, we teach a high quality, daily, discrete phonics session from FS1 to Year 2, and where it is needed in other year groups. Primarily, we follow the Letters and Sounds scheme and we incorporate elements of Jolly Phonics.

We use a variety of reading scheme texts and non – scheme books to ensure children learn and apply a range of reading strategies. We endeavour to purchase/provide books/texts that engage boys and girls and their interests.
