Brockwood Park School is an international co-educational boarding school for 14-19 year olds, set in 40 acres of beautiful countryside in the heart of Hampshire, about one hour from London. The school provides an holistic education for 70 students and is the only school of its kind in Europe.
Over 50 years have passed since Brockwood was founded by educator philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti in 1969, and the original model remains unchanged, making the school unique in Europe. The intentions remain identical and the question concerning the nature of freedom is as central and vital as ever.
The intentions of Brockwood Park School, as stated in Krishnamurti’s many public talks and books, can be summarised as follows:
"The purpose, aim and drive of these schools is to equip the child with the most excellent technological proficiency so that he may function with clarity and efficiency in the modern world, and far more important to create the right climate, so that the child may develop fully as a complete human being. This means giving him the opportunity to flower in goodness so that he is rightly related to people, things and ideas, to the whole of life. To live is to be related. There is no relationship to anything if there is not the right feeling for beauty, a response to nature, to music and art, a highly developed aesthetic sense." - J. Krishnamurti
