Caerau Primary School

The school is extremely proud of its reputation for its concern for the individual child, both in terms of pastoral care and educational provision. We work on the premise that every child is entitled to the highest quality educational experience that can be provided.

We deliver a well-researched and organised curriculum with experienced staff training to a high level. In addition to gaining literacy, numeracy, scientific, artistic and technological skills, your child will build confidence, develop self-reliance, learn to make decisions and develop the ability to articulate feelings and ideas. We have also got specialised staff for Catch-up, Language support, Speech and Language, Language and Play and a speech therapist.

We also attach great importance to the development of pupils’ social skills and seek to enable them to build relationships with other children and adults and be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others.

The Governors and staff aim to:

• Create a positive atmosphere and caring environment for all staff and pupils
• Provide the best possible education for all pupils and enable them to learn effectively and achieve high standards in all aspects of their work
• Constantly strive to raise levels of pupils’ individual achievements in all areas of school life-but in particular, Literacy, Numeracy, ICT and in supporting children to think independently
• Assist all staff and pupils in the acquisition of skills and knowledge relevant to their own development through the whole school implementation of the Literacy and Numeracy Framework
• Instil a positive attitude towards each other, creating an atmosphere of tolerance and co-operation
• Provide opportunities for all to participate and enjoy music, art, as well as other creative and sporting activities
• Welcome parents and guardians into the school and encourage them to work with staff and pupils
• Create a warm, clean and attractive school environment.

Our school’s objectives are to:

• Review current educational initiatives and , if relevant, adopt them to the benefit of all staff and pupils
• Maximise the school’s potential by working with outside agencies to assist the development of the school and to obtain any available support-financial or otherwise
• Ensure that all staff adopt a positive attitude towards pupils’ care, and project the caring image of the school in the community
• Promote the image of the school as a forward-moving organisation, at the forefront of educational and career development.
