Carmichael College believes that life-long learning involves a knowledge and understanding of the world around us, and those structures that make up our world.

It is important that education must equip students for a world of great change, rapid technological development and globalisation. It is also important for students to have a deeper understanding of our world through the study of science and humanities in order for them to develop the skills necessary to make informed choices. The use of an inquiry based approach to learning provides more opportunities for students to engage with tasks, and the world. In living in the world our students need to practice grace and stewardship to be upstanding citizens in their local and global contexts.

Carmichael College stands for life-long learning that involves discovering one’s own creativity and strengths whilst respecting others talents. It involves looking for alternatives in thinking approaches, solutions to everyday situations; using the many talents individually and collectively to enhance the life of the whole community.

Our creativity invites our students to develop their knowledge of music, art drama and information technology and also skills such as communication, planning, research, design and problem solving.

Carmichael College encourages reflective and self-directed thinking and learning in developing responsibility to self and others. It can involve planning, developing, critically evaluating, and challenging ideas, theories, and beliefs. Each student’s development physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually and spiritually depends on these activities.

Our development focuses on the explicit inclusion of social and personal development, as well as health and physical education, motor programs and our resilience building program – My Life Rulz. Carmichael College believes that our learning community underpins our curriculum content. Effective learning can only take place if students’ wellbeing is addressed through an atmosphere of grace and mutual acceptance of each other.
