Welcome to our School. Childwall Sports and Science Academy has a mission statement of “Learning without Limits”. This means that we seek to achieve the best possible outcomes for every student within a safe and supportive environment.

SMSC stands for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. At Childwall Sports and Science Academy School we teach these qualities across the curriculum and throughout school life. It is linked closely to our school values and ethos.

Childwall Sports and Science Academy provides a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum to meet the needs of all our learners. The curriculum is reviewed annually to ensure it is engaging and challenging for all students.

Subjects are divided into different pathways offering academic and vocational choices fo students. The curriculum is developed in partnership with learners and parents and each student is assessed individually. All courses lead to further education in the Sixth Form or to employment and training.

KEY STAGE 3 - In the first three years we introduce students to each aspect of the curriculum to facilitate effective choices later on. We encourage each student to achieve their full potential through an aspirational culture and stretch and challenge both in and out of the classroom.

Progress is closely monitored by regular assessments and this data is shared with parents and carers at least four times a year. In addition there is a Performance Review Evening for every year group once a year where parents, carers and their children meet with subject teachers and senior staff.

The curriculum content develops personal, learning and thinking skills, as well as subject knowledge. All students follow the National Curriculum through Key Stage 3 and 4. In Year 7 most lessons are taught in the form group, or in smaller mixed-ability classes. Classes are arranged by ability in Year 7 in Mathematics, English, Science and Humanities.

There is an extensive choice of GCSE and BTEC courses available at Key Stage 4 through 3 different pathways. Students are guided onto the pathway that is most suitable for them. The English-Baccalaureate Pathway offers a range of academic GCSE courses for our more able students. The other pathway is offered to the majority of our students and offers the widest range of choice from GCSE subjects and BTEC courses. Both of these pathways give students the opportunity to study the combination of subjects that allows them to gain the English Baccalaureate.

We celebrate diversity amongst our students and our team of key stage 5 specialist staff seek to nurture each individual and are passionate about our youngsters. As one of the biggest sixth forms in Liverpool, we offer a number of courses which allow for a wide range of subject combinations which are designed to meet the needs, talents and interests of all of our students.

At Childwall Sports and Science Academy Sixth Form, we offer you a stimulating post 16 experience, with access to a wide range of activities including sport, visits, work experience and enterprise.

We encourage our students to thrive in a happy, safe and supportive environment, where they can develop the skills and confidence which will serve them throughout their lives. Above all, we offer unprecedented advice and support on higher education and career options to ensure students leave us with the skills and qualifications to succeed in the competitive 21st century.
