Christian Academy in Japan (CAJ) is a K-12 school established in 1950 to provide Christ-centered education to the children of evangelical missionaries. While continuing in this purpose, CAJ also serves other families who desire this type of education for their children. We serve approximately 450 students in our day school program and more than 300 students in our School Support Services program. Our program uses English as the language of instruction and a North American curriculum.
The school serves a student body that is composed of the dependents of missionaries (40%) and dependents of business and professional people (60%). Our students come from over 25 countries with many holding dual citizenship. A division of CAJ, SSS has been meeting the needs of English-speaking homeschoolers in Japan since 1983 with consultancy, resources, and programs. Some SSS families homeschool all subjects while others send their children to Japanese schools and supplement with English studies at home. SSS also provides support for affiliated schools.
Founding Missions
At CAJ, we realize we are living in a broken world, but we desire for our community to be a place where students and families feel welcomed, safe, and protected. It is important that we have effective structures in place to remind us of our roles and responsibilities. Especially in a community where different cultures might have different interpretations of what nurture and discipline might look like, we need to clearly define what we expect from our CAJ community in order to keep our students safe.
Our Mission
CAJ equips students for servant leadership by providing guidance for their spiritual journeys, cultivating individual excellence, fostering healthy relationships and building a sense of local and global responsibility in a Christ-centered, nurturing, diverse and inspiring learning community.
Our program, as summarized in our Student Objectives, applies this biblical approach to life and learning, addresses the whole person, and equips students to become:
Faithful Caretakers
Responsible Learners
Discerning Thinkers
Productive Collaborators
who Create a positive environment that encourages respect, creativity, and flexibility.
Provide and receive constructive feedback.
Effective Communicators
who Employ various forms of communication.
Engage with and navigate between diverse cultures and languages.

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
My child has had an amazing experience at the Christian Academy in Japan. The quality of education is outstanding, and the American curriculum has helped my child excel. The staff at the school is incredibly helpful and supportive. I have seen tremendous progress in my child's academic and personal growth.
