Clifton Primary School

Clifton Primary School is situated in the heart of Southall in the London Borough of Ealing. The school has been at the centre of the local community for over 100 years and we pride ourselves on firmly holding the pupils’ best interests at the heart of everything we do. Our aim is to provide high quality learning in an inclusive, nurturing environment for all our pupils. At the end of their learning journey with us we want our pupils to be well rounded individuals who can thrive in the next stage of their education. We want our children, parents and the wider community to see what we do and to join us in celebrating our achievements.

At Clifton Primary School we value the diverse, ethnic backgrounds of all pupils and families and undertake a variety of events and lessons to celebrate these. We believe that our credo, policies, practices and curriculum, all reflect, promote and reinforce the ‘fundamental British Values,.’

We believe that these fundamental British Values are implicitly and explicitly embedded in our practices and beliefs. We stimulate discussion, reflection and action about these values via: daily interactions, spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) education, circle time, personal, social, health education (PSHE), religious education, charitable work, visits and other means.

At Clifton Primary School, we offer a curriculum at KS1 and KS2 which is broad and balanced to ensure we:

• Promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and society
• Prepare pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life

We follow the National Curriculum for England. Each year group follows a curriculum map for each subject area outlining the objectives that will be taught. We make provision for a daily act of collective worship and teach Religious Education to our pupils. Clifton Primary School also makes provision for Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) as well as Citizenship drawing on good practice.

We aim to be an outstanding, communication friendly school at the heart of our culturally diverse community. We hope to enable children to achieve their highest potential across the Early Years curriculum through nurturing curiosity and creativity, and ensuring all children are challenged and encouraged to flourish as individuals.

At Clifton Primary School we believe that physical activity not only improves health, reduces stress and improves concentration, but also provides opportunities for children to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Exercise has a positive influence and helps develop a child socially, morally, culturally and spiritually.

Our aim is that, through physical education we teach and develop physical competence, an appreciation of skills and creative performances, understanding of basic principles of ‘fair play’ and improve the inter personal skills of the whole child.
