Training institutes across Dubai that “offer education services to students aged between 12 and 60 years” are gearing up to welcome their students back in campuses, starting tomorrow.

Like all other businesses, these centres had earlier been closed as a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19.

The Knowledge and Human Resources Development Authority (KHDA) has confirmed sharing certain regulations with the coaching institutes, for a phased reopening from Wednesday, May 27.

The easing of restrictions is applicable to centres offer professional and management development training; computer and language training; technical and occupational training; and fine arts, calligraphy, music, dance, sculpture and drawing.

They are not applicable for schools; universities; nurseries and early childhood centres; in-home tutoring; children’s centres, camps & activities; and spring and summer camps for children aged 12 and under.

In its circular, the KHDA states that institutes can offer in-person training provided that they comply with stringent hygiene protocol that has been spelt out as the emirate reopens.

The regulations include:

  • Maintaining occupancy ceiling to 50 per cent of common areas and within office premises
  • Allowing 50 per cent of staff back to work
  • No gathering permitted
  • All common areas of an institute’s premises, including toilets, must be cleaned after each use
  • Entrance areas must be sterilised daily
  • Pantries can be opened but only for food and drink consumption, maintaining a 2m social distance. Items must be sold/dispensed in disposable containers only
  • Water dispenser is not allowed
  • No buffets are allowed
  • No gatherings outside training facilities are permitted
  • No high-risk individuals may enter the premises. These include people over 60 years old, people of determination, pregnant women, and children under 12
  • Individuals with chronic diseases should not attend training sessions

Apart from these, mandatory temperature screenings will be done. Cleaning and sanitising of the premises at the end of each day is a must. Maintaining physical distancing rules and providing masks and sanitisers are  also a priority.

Additionally, the facilities must provide for isolation rooms for suspect cases.

The notice further says all restrictions must be communicated to employees and visitors.
