Welcome to Correlieu Secondary School. Our comprehensive high school offers every student a progressive and quality educational program and a spring board to their future. Upon graduation, every student should be prepared for the ever-changing world of the 21 century. For some students, this path will take them to the world of work; for others, they may go for further training opportunities; and for others, the path will lead to college and university. Whatever path a student chooses, Correlieu will ensure that each student is well prepared.

Every student has a responsibility in their education, and their responsibility is three-fold: to attend school regularly, to engage at their optimal level in the learning activities, and to maintain a positive attitude towards learning. If students attend regularly, engage with the learning activities, and keep a positive attitude they will be successful.

Correlieu Secondary has a strong link to our parents and community. We work closely with our students and parents to build a strong network of communication to support student success. We want to help students work through problems at the lowest level and encourage parents and students to contact us when they need help or support to solve an issue. We try to be compassionate and empathetic when working through our problem solving strategies and do our best to mediate conflict when it arises. We have high expectations for student success and support all learners on their way toward graduation and life after high school.

Correlieu Secondary School is organized around two semesters per school year. Students enroll in 4 courses per semester. We offer a range of academic, vocational and trades courses in 10 departments Graphic & Performing Arts, Business Education, Mathematics, English, Languages, Science, Trades & Technology, Home Economics, Physical Education, Social Studies.

Correlieu Secondary School promotes the values expressed in the BC Human Rights Code respecting the rights of all individuals in accordance with the law – prohibiting discrimination based on race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, religion, marital status, family status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression; and, age – in respect of discriminatory publication and discrimination in accommodation, service and facility in the school environment.

The staff, parents, and students at Correlieu Secondary School believe that school and school-related activities must be held in a safe and secure learning and working environment. The Correlieu Secondary School Code of Conduct formalizes the expectation for student behaviour while at school, while travelling to and from school, and while attending any school function or activity at off-campus locations.

As students progress through their high school years, they are expected to demonstrate increasing levels of maturity and responsibility, and to act as positive role models for younger students. When determining appropriate disciplinary action, both the severity and frequency of the unacceptable conduct, as well as the age and maturity of the student will be considered. Responses to unacceptable conduct are fair and consistent, while reflective of the particular circumstances of each individual case. Disciplinary action, wherever possible, is preventative and restorative, rather than merely punitive.
