Creek Street Christian College has been established to provide families with a Christian education, within a caring and disciplined environment that will enable children to fully develop their God-given talents and academic abilities, so that they are able to contribute effectively to the changing society of which they are a part. The College encourages and supports students to develop a positive and wholesome outlook on life, to become self-disciplined people and to be responsible and caring members of the community.

The College Motto: ‘Seek Truth: Love Mercy’ is based on the scripture in Proverbs 3:1-4 (NKJ) ‘My Son do not forget my law But let your heart keep my commands For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you Let not mercy and truth forsake you Bind them around your neck Write them on the tables of your heart And so find favour and high esteem In the sight of God and man.’ Our motto has two main challenges. Firstly, to seek out and know the truth. The Bible says that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and was our example of someone who lived according to God’s truth (His Word and Ways). Christians acknowledge this is not an easy task, but with God’s help it is possible to accept the challenge and live by it. Secondly, in understanding Truth we acknowledge as Christians that God is merciful and always forgives those who ask. The Bible says that because God has forgiven us and always forgives us we should be the same in our treatment toward other people.

Our College, founded in 1981, seeks to provide a high standard of Christian education for the families of our city and beyond. Over time our school has continued to grow and expand so that we now have over 270 students in classes from prep to year 10. With our school contained on one campus this offers unique opportunities for the various year levels to support one another and for students to participate in school wide learning activities.

At the Junior School level, prep to year 4, a strong emphasis is placed on the areas of literacy and numeracy and parents are regularly kept informed of their children’s progress in these key subjects through term and semester reports and student record folders.

Christian teachers provide a positive and encouraging environment in which to learn and all students are encouraged to give of their best. Individual learning styles, levels of ability and interests are catered for through a variety of teaching methods including the use of various thinking tools, individual and group work, explicit teaching, interactive whiteboards, iPads and computer labs. Handwriting and times tables remain key foundational life skills and their value is reinforced throughout the school.

As students move into the Middle School, year 5 to year 7, they are gradually introduced to a wider range of subjects and a larger number of different teachers, while maintaining the strong college commitment to the further development of their literacy and numeracy skills. A one-to-one iPad program is introduced at the year 7 level thus building on the already varied delivery of the curriculum.

Moving into our Senior School, at year 8, students participate in a growing range of subjects with the introduction of our Electives program. This program which seeks to lead students into their chosen career paths, or just give them a taste of the possibilities, continues to expand their learning opportunities further in year 9 and 10. These subjects added to core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, History and Geography, Health and Sport, include the options of  VCE Mathematics, Cabinet Making, Food Technology, Performing Arts, Automotive Technology, Digital Photography, Visual Arts, Design and Technology, Extension Science (Chemistry and Physics), Outdoor Recreation, VET Certificate II Sporting Pathway Program, French, Small Business Enterprise, VET Information, Digital Media and Technology and VET Community Service.

It is our belief that the opportunities we present to the students will form a strong foundation for the remainder of their lives, regardless of their future paths. It is exciting to watch them as they grow and develop in a Christ-centred environment. Central to the College’s vision is the desire to see our students develop their God given gifts and abilities so they are equipped to impact their community, our nation and the world for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our desire is to help students DISCOVER all God made them to be. Creek Street Christian College has proven itself over many years to be a school where young people can be encouraged to develop in all areas of their lives. This includes their academic, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Affirmation of this strong standing within the community is found in the ex-students who now send their children to Creek Street.

An established school culture and school history with continued stability of staff and governance plus is a firm foundation on which to build the next exciting part of the Creek Street Christian College journey.
