People loved the school. Teachers took the time to get to know their students and really figure out what each individual needed in order to excel. Students felt confident about learning and couldn’t wait to get to school. Parents admired Crestwood’s ability to balance innovative and traditional teaching methods and provide an environment that provided safety and a sense of adventure at the same time. These qualities have not changed over the years.
Parents clamored for an upper school, and Dalia finally said yes. In the spring of 2001, Vince Pagano agreed to become Headmaster of Crestwood Preparatory College (Grades 7 to 12) and help Dalia get it started. He oversaw the physical expansion of the newly acquired building less than ten minutes away near York Mills and the Don Valley Parkway and helped get everything else into place in time to begin its inaugural year that September. Crestwood Preparatory College now has 550.
Crestwood students and alumni approach life with confidence and a sense of adventure. Opportunities and success abound in an atmosphere dedicated to effective teachers and teaching practices, a safe, disciplined and nurturing environment, and a superbly enriched academic and co-curricular program.
Teachers invite and encourage student participation at all levels, communicate with parents regularly, and assist in remedying any issue with a positive and professional attitude.
Our academic program is process oriented. Learning skills, study habits, time management and organizational keys are always front and centre in every classroom and lesson. Students are encouraged to do their best and to get involved in the daily life of the school. Critical, independent thinking and analysis is always encouraged. The confidence and self-esteem programs of this nature engender the positive personal relationships students form in and out of school.
You have a tremendous program that has given each of our three children the necessary tools to achieve success in their own way. They now have the confidence to strive for more success across a range of disciplines whether it be in academics, music, sports or drama.” —Scott Northey
