Opened in 1967, Croesty Primary School is housed in a pleasant, single story building situated at the western end of Pencoed. The main building consists of three wings, each housing two classrooms, toilets and cloakroom. Three classrooms, situated across the playground, offer the same accommodation. We are fortunate in being surrounded by generous, grassed play areas, which are enhanced by trees and shrubs. Part of this area has been fenced to serve as a nature reserve.
Children usually enter our infant department in the school year in which they are five. Many come from either our nursery class, or one of the many playgroups in the village. Children leave us at eleven years of age, transferring usually to Pencoed Comprehensive School, which is situated on the same campus. Croesty Primary is an English medium school where Welsh is taught and encouraged as a second language.
We wish every child to gain a sound grounding over a wide range of key life skills that will remain relevant throughout their lives and enable all of our children to become:
These will include determination, adaptability, confidence, patience, tolerance and perseverance, the ability to take risks and to be enterprising. We will ensure that learning experiences are designed so that a broad range of these attributes are nurtured and developed. We want our children to be able to work effectively both as individuals as well as with others.
