Crowcroft Park Primary is a very special school where we aim for all of our children to be happy, well-motivated and very well educated. We have close to 240 wonderful children at Crowcroft Park. They are happy, chatty and enthusiastic – and each one is unique, special and valued. We serve a diverse and ever-changing community, which brings a welcome richness to daily school life. Our children amaze and astound us continually, providing frequent joyful moments as they take new learning, new friendships, new languages - and even new countries in their stride. We feel proud and privileged to educate the children of Longsight.
We provide 26 full time Nursery places for children who are aged three from 1st September to 31st August of the previous school year. Children cannot be admitted to our Nursery until they are three. We aim to have all our children admitted to Nursery by the end of September. Parents and carers should contact the school office if they wish to place their child’s name on our Nursery waiting list.
Children’s names need to be on the Nursery Waiting List by the end of March, the school year before they are due to start in the Nursery. Parents and carers will receive a letter during April if their child has been offered a place. Parents and carers need to accept this place by the deadline on the letter. Once the place has been accepted a transition program will be organised for your child. This is run by the Foundation Stage Team.
The Internet opens up the world to children and young people. It allows for many wonderful educational and learning opportunities. In addition to useful education tools on the Internet, a great deal of content also exists that is not appropriate for children. Talk to your child about what they’re up to online. Be a part of their online life; involve the whole family and show an interest. Find out what sites they visit and what they love about them, if they know you understand they are more likely to come to you if they have any problems. We hope that the following information will support you in keeping your children safe in this digital world.
E-safety is an integral part of children’s education in today’s digital world and is embedded in their learning at school. We also want to help our parents and children improve their own understanding of e-safety issues so they can learn to use the internet and all digital media in a safe and secure way.
We want ALL our children to leave Crowcroft Park in Year 6 able to read confidently and fluently and most of all we want our children to LOVE reading. It is very important that all the children have opportunities to read every day - this can be in the form of comics, newspapers, e-books, fiction, non fiction. Make sure as a family you put time aside each day to have a quiet time when everyone reads something. Reading opens many doors for people it allows us to experience things that may only exist in our dreams. All our children have a reading day when they share their books with a member of staff. Please send in your child’s reading book every day.
We identify pupils with SEN through our whole school approach to monitoring the progress and development of all pupils. Class teachers, supported by the senior leadership team, make half termly assessments of all pupils. We use these assessments to help us identify pupils with emerging difficulties and respond quickly. We recognise that parents know their children best and encourage parents to raise any concerns they have about their child’s development with their child’s class teacher or the SENCO.
Our school rules apply at all times inside and outside the school. They will be taught and reinforced during lessons and assemblies. The school rules apply throughout the school day and will be reinforced by lunchtime staff and staff on playtime duty. Staff will focus on encouraging and rewarding positive play. Consequences will be used when a child does not follow the school rules.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people goes beyond implementing basic child protection procedures. It is an integral part of all activities and functions of Crowcroft Park Primary School. This policy complements and supports other relevant school and Local Authority policies
Access to cross-curricular activities will provide opportunities to develop self-esteem and self- motivation and to help pupils respect the rights of others, particularly those groups who may be considered a minority.
