Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) was established in the year 2008 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh at Visakhapatnam through DSNLU Act, 2008 to impart quality legal education. The University is recognized u/s 2(f) of UGC Act 1956 and has the recognition of the BCI.

Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University is a premier educational institution situated at “NYAYAPRASTA” Sabbavaram 30 kilometres from Visakhapatnam the “City of Destiny”. It caters the needs of more than 600 students and research scholars from across the country. Its mission is to design and deliver legal education, promote academic achievement and excellence in legal research. The University offers 5 year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons) Degree and one year LL.M. programe, Ph.D. and LL.D. The University has MOUs for student exchange programs with four Prestigious National Law Universities. Additionally, the University has a MOU with ICADR; and is a deemed Study Center by the IGNOU. DSNLU is committed to design and deliver legal education, promote academic achievement and excellence in legal research.

The object of Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University is to build on the traditional ethos of Andhra Pradesh and create a temple of learning. It aims at imparting quality legal education and organize advanced studies and research in all branches of law. The main objectives are

• To provide quality multi-disciplinary education in legal studies, keeping in view the demands of the global economy and the needs of the domestic society.
• To evolve and impart comprehensive legal education at all levels to achieve excellence.
• To promote cultural, legal and ethical values with a view to promote and foster the rule of law and objectives enshrined in the Constitution of India.
• To promote legal awareness for achieving Social and Economic Justice for all.
• To promote inter discipline study of law in relation to Management, Technology, International Co-operation and Development.

The experience at DSNLU would make the student equipped to become a judge, lawyer and academician or to secure a career with corporate law firms, state departments and organizations. The University extends support in developing mooting and debating skills and provides practical experience of legal learning. DSNLU encourages in conducting legal aid and legal literacy camps in various parts of the country. In order to further enrich the law school experience, a number of optional courses and seminar papers of varying credits are offered. The students have to choose the subject and pursue the area of their interest.
