Scandinavian-style learning in North London for children from age two. London Scandinavian School is a warm, welcoming learning environment that emphasises collaborative and experiential instruction. Our small size and great location allows teachers the time, flexibility, and space to meet children where they are emotionally and academically. Students leave our school confident and engaged in their individual learning journey. The school follows the academic framework set by British National Curriculum through Scandinavian values through
A typical day in preschool starts with a child-led creative play, onto a morning meeting, and then off to one of the many area playgrounds and open spaces. The teachers follow the children’s interests to create teachable moments throughout the day.
Designed to bridge gap between Preschool and Primary, our Reception class follows the 7 Areas of Learning. We gently and gradually help our children build and develop their concentration through short structured activities sandwiched between periods of play.
Our educational model includes a heavy emphasis on outdoor and active learning. Small, focused classes with high teacher-to-student ratios create an empowered and engaged environment. All classes are in English, with Danish, Swedish and other language lessons offered based on capacity.
We would love to hear from you if you are looking for a small school community that will care for your child as an individual, understands the importance of communication and relationship from an early age, whilst shaping them into curious, lifelong learners.
Our Mission
London Scandinavian School teaches children how to be themselves so they are able to confidently learn for themselves.
Our Aims
Support and encourage children to become confident learners by recognising and supporting each child's unique strengths and needs. Cultivate a culture of kindness and empathy for children, parents, and staff.
Inspire a lifelong love-of-learning through inquiry-based learning techniques, outdoor learning and hands-on, project-based lessons.
Equip our students with the tools and skills to become self-directed learners who are empowered to express themselves and engage in their communities. Sustain an inclusive learning community that encourages collaboration and cooperation among all members.
Our Beliefs
We believe setting a foundation that prioritises personal development, critical thinking and empathy empowers children to be engaged in their journey, giving them the tools to succeed in any environment.
When students feel confident in their abilities, they are more likely to take risks and push themselves to achieve their goals. Considerate thinkers are able reflect on their own beliefs and perspectives as well as those of others. Collaborative students recognise and contribute to their community, in whatever form that is.
