Our Reception class provides a warm and nurturing transition from Preschool to more structured learning that happens in Primary School. As in Preschool, Reception follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 7 Areas of Learning.
Our aim in our Reception class is to create an environment where playful learning meets nature, ensuring a safe space where young minds blossom through exploration, collaboration, and meaningful connection.
We focus on playful exploration through hands-on learning where the child’s individual interests and curiosities are nurtured. Wherever possible we take our learning outdoors to spark imagination, connect with nature and make learning come alive.
Peer learning is a concept embraced school-wide and for Reception this means the children spend time playing, learning and socialising with children in preschool, as well as the older primary children, creating opportunities for gaining confidence, enhancing communication and fostering enriching connections.
While our Primary students are often learning the same topics as their state-school peers, education is delivered through more targeted lessons that meet the child exactly where they are.
Additionally, each term has a learning question that teachers and students are invited to both ask and answer, challenging them to interact with the subject matter in more meaningful way.
As in Preschool, Reception and Primary students do as much learning outdoors as possible as well as regular school trips, providing context to learning and exploring all that London has to offer.
