Danube Private University

The Danube Private University (DPU) is located in the Stein district of Krems an der Donau in Lower Austria and situated in the Wachau UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Landscape, a mere 60 km from the gates of Vienna. The DPU is a fully private university with a faculty of medicine/dentistry.

The Danube Private University is the first and only private university in Austria to offer an undergraduate Diploma Programme in Dental Medicine (Dr. med. dent). The undergraduate offer of the DPU is completed by its Bachelor of Arts in Dental Hygiene (BA) and Bachelor/Master of Arts in Medical Journalism and Public Relations (BA/MA) programmes.

The Danube Private University has a total of 1,500 enrolled students, of which about 620 in its six-year Diploma Programme in Dental Medicine (Dr. med. dent.). The students in the programme are predominantly the children of dentists and doctors from Europe and all over the world.

The Danube Private University (DPU) is owned by PUSH GmbH (Postgraduate University Studies for Medical Professions), which has been providing dentists worldwide with university-based postgraduate Master of Science specialization programmes for almost two decades — previously also in cooperation with the Danube University Krems. Over 5,500 dentists have graduated with a Master of Science (MSc) in their specialized field to date and a further 800 are currently enrolled in the university’s programmes.

The DPU also offers a postgraduate, scientific Doctoral Programme in Dental Medicine (PhD) and also has the right to habilitation for private lecturers. All the requirements for the right to habilitation are fulfilled and the habilitation regulations are in effect.

As a university of dental medicine we have the advantage that our professors in any case always teach our candidate med. dent., young dentists in training, the state of the art in dentistry and that we are able to offer our patients treatments based on high-quality scientific findings.

The hygiene of our entire dental clinic is managed and monitored by an external hospital hygienist. The optimal maintenance of our technical equipment, such as the 52 dental treatment units and DVT, panoramic, and x-ray imaging equipment is always ensured at the DPU Dental Clinic in Krems. A well coordinated product network and seamless cooperation with our own dental technician laboratory, which is headed by a master dental technician, are key success factors.
