Faculty Position in Data Science and Analytics

Job Summary

RIT Dubai is currently seeking exceptional candidates with interdisciplinary interests in a wide range of topics in the foundations and applications of data science. This may include development of the underlying theory, tools and techniques necessary to extract meaning from large, complex or unstructured data sets, while applications may encompass a broad range of subject areas including health and life sciences, physical sciences and engineering, environmental sciences, education, financial services analytics, behavioral and social sciences, and/or public policy.

Required Qualifications for the Position

• PhD in a data-intensive discipline from a recognized institution
• Documented experience in the application of data science to Big Data problems
• Ability to have the foundations in the latest techniques to visualize and analyze data as well as the project skills to apply this knowledge in the real world
• Teaching and research experience in statistical theory and methods, data mining, text mining, neural networks, visualization, structured prediction, data engineering, Big Data analysis, econometric methods, probabilistic modelling and/or machine learning
• Excellent communication skills.

The new faculty member in Data Science will teach up to (three-four) courses each semester, including capstone research courses. Other duties include student advising, participation in committee work, mentoring students doing research and applied projects, and helping build relationships with industry and government Big Data professionals. Applied research in data science is encouraged.
