Denstone College is a coeducational boarding and day school set in beautiful grounds in rural Staffordshire. Here your children are encouraged to embrace possibility, both inside and outside the classroom. At Denstone College, we believe that school should be a transformational, inspirational, life-changing experience where children grow into young adults ready to contribute to the world. It is my aim that children love being at school here; that they embrace the opportunity to find and pursue their passions, reaching their potential so that they leave well-equipped to take their place in society.

Vision is to be the educational Beacon of Excellence Across the Midlands (BEAM). Mission statement:

  • To shine the light – provide inspiration, discovery and understanding to our pupils by delivering excellence in the classroom and beyond.
  • To enable the journey - create opportunities by promoting the highest possible standards of educational achievement in an environment where pupils are encouraged to realise their true potential becoming ever more independent, resilient and confident.
  • To serve the community - remain true to the College’s founding aims of widening access to a sound, Christian education.
  • To be the reference point - whereby Denstonians (current and former) can reflect on our belief in Achievement, Confidence and Happiness, and the values instilled here of Honesty, Endeavour and Kindness so that they play a useful role in society, leading fulfilling and purposeful lives.

Pastoral care is at the heart of all we do at Denstone College. The wellbeing of all our pupils is our highest priority and we have an excellent team in place to support each young person. From the structure of the house tutorial system, to the much more informal access to the extended pastoral team or prefects, the framework of pastoral care ensures that at every step each pupil's development is monitored and fully supported. The diversity of support and care which the pupils have available means that they are treated as individuals, and can always find someone to discuss their questions or concerns.

The extended pastoral team comprises of the Deputy Head Pastoral, Senior Master, Senior Pastoral Lead, Heads of House, Heads of School/ Moss Moor, Head of Wellbeing, tutors, boarding tutors, our Medical Team and school counsellor, who together create our enabling, supportive ethos.

Tutors combine pastoral care with detailed academic monitoring and so get to know the whole person. Their encouragement to their tutees to participate in a wide range of activities successfully engenders greater self-confidence and self-awareness. If you have a concern about your child please contact their Tutor in the first instance or the Head of House (day pupils) or Head of School/Moss Moor (boarders). For more serious issues you may wish to contact a member of the Senior Pastoral team, either the Senior Pastoral Lead, Senior Master or Deputy Head Pastoral.

While staff are always available to support you and your child, the Pastoral Hub below contains useful signposts to websites, apps and organisations that can provide advice, support and information on various issues.
