Our school is situated in the Evelyn ward within Lewisham. We are a three-form entry community primary school and admit children from three to eleven years old. Our primary school is at the heart of the community and we seek to create strong links with all members of our locality. We celebrate the rich diversity of our community and encourage children to respect each other’s cultures, faiths and traditions. We work in partnership with our parents and we will encourage you to be fully involved in your child’s education. We value parental involvement and our community is important to our school.
Our school aims for high academic standards for all, but at the same time embodies the broadest possible definition of education. At this school every child does matter and we do all we can to make a difference. At Deptford Park we believe learning should be fun and that you never grow too old for new learning. We are committed to preparing our young people for life and the challenges they may meet. The school’s focus is firmly fixed on learning; children’s, teachers’, support staff and the school’s capacity for continual development. We have found that this leads to improvements in children’s motivation, behaviour, engagement and learning outcomes.
We are always working towards these aims, encapsulating them in the concept of Deptford Park School – the world in our school. At Deptford Park, we provide a broad and exciting curriculum set within the context of the National Curriculum. We promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, intellectual and physical development of all our children preparing them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.
Most subject areas are usually taught by the class teacher but we provide specialist teaching for some subjects. A variety of practical activities are provided to enable children to fully grasp the abstract concepts that are put before them. Investigational work is also a very high priority. We are committed to the belief that your child is able to become a competent and confident learner.
Information Technology is an integral part of our all our teaching. All children have access to a computer suite for lessons in IT. The classrooms also have other IT equipment to support, consolidate and extend the use of the computers e.g. Valiant Roamers and Interactive Whiteboards.
Your child will also learn about a range of other national curriculum subjects including geography, history, art and design, physical education, design and technology, PHSE, religious education, music and French. Some of these areas are taught as separate subjects but your child will also learn about them in a cross curricular way. This approach allows children to make connections between subjects and also makes the learning more fun and relevant.
We provide a wide range of after-school activities to develop interests and aptitudes. Children have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. Specialist teaching using the new Arts Block enhance their learning experiences in dance, art and music. There are also gifted and talented groups for identified children and booster classes are offered to children in small groups to accelerate their progress. There are a range of trips and visits including museums, theatres and sports competitions.
You will be encouraged to support your child with the curriculum at home. The extent and type of homework will depend on your child’s age and ability.

I wasn’t asked to write this review, but I truly felt in my heart that I had to. This school has been an incredible support system for my family from the very beginning. My son started here in Reception and went all the way through until secondary school, and now my daughters have also had the privilege of being part of this amazing community. From day one, the school has always shown care, patience and understanding. My daughter Ava, my second born, struggled at the start, and the way the teachers supported her, encouraged her, and helped her settle in meant so much to us. The love and dedication from the staff is something I will never forget. I want to say a huge thank you to all the wonderful teachers and staff whose kindness will stay with us forever. You have all played such an important role in my children’s lives, and I will always be grateful. Leaving this school has been one of the hardest decisions for us. With my new commitments and our house move, we sadly had no choice. We thought about it over and over again because this school truly is the best in the neighbourhood. Any parent looking for a nurturing, supportive, and warm environment—this is the school to choose. Thank you for everything. We are starting a new chapter, but I will definitely keep you updated on how the girls are doing. We will always remember this school with love.
