Earth Day – 3 Student Innovators Invited to MIT | Nord Anglia Education
In November, three outstanding student innovators from Nord Anglia Education’s Middle East schools will take part in the annual MIT Student Trip where they’ll showcase their practical, solutions-focused projects connected to healthcare access, water conservation, and sustainable infrastructure – demonstrating how young people are responding to some of the world’s most pressing environmental and humanitarian issues.
- In Dubai, a student has reimagined newborn immunisation through a self-boosting vaccine concept using timed-release microcapsule technology, addressing one of healthcare’s biggest access challenges by reducing the need for repeat clinic visits and improving vaccine completion rates in underserved communities.
- In Doha, a student has developed “Smart Drop”, an AI-powered water monitoring system that learns household usage patterns to detect leaks early, helping to prevent water loss and improve efficiency across homes and communities.
- In Amman, a student has designed a gravity-fed, electricity-free water purification tower capable of producing up to 500 litres of clean water per day, offering a scalable solution to expand access to safe drinking water in low-resource settings.
Collectively, these stories reflect how the next generation is applying science, engineering, and AI to real-world sustainability and public health challenges.
