EMU has been providing higher education in TRNC since 1979 with all programs accredited by the Turkish Higher Education Council (YÖK), Eastern Mediterranean University is the only state university in TRNC.
With its highly developed infrastructure, prominent academic staff members, 17,500 students from 110 and 1,100 academics from 35 different countries, quality programs in English, the opportunity of learning a second foreign language, student exchange programs, rich sports, social and cultural activity opportunities, international accreditations, an international teaching context and a diploma recognized throughout the world, EMU prepares its students for their international careers by educating them in becoming creative and competitive individuals with entrepreneurial skills.
EMU has been offering quality education through 108 undergraduate and school programs and 96 postgraduate and doctoral degree programs provided by 12 faculties, 4 schools, and Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School.
EMU is a full member of the International Association of Universities, the European University Association, the Community of Mediterranean Universities, and the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World. Giving special importance to international recognition, EMU has received the accreditation of various prominent international accrediting bodies. EMU is only one of five universities in the region to have been awarded the prestigious ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) in the field of engineering.
Similarly, EMU Architecture Faculty holds the MİAK accreditation. Business and Economics Faculty, Tourism Faculty, and School of Computing and Technology have been granted the accreditation of FIBAA. Education Faculty English Language Teaching (ELT) Department was accredited by AQAS. Additionally, EMU School of Tourism and Hospitality Management gained the accreditation of TEDQUAL, and the Computer Technologies and Information Systems offered by the School of Computing and Technology (SCT) successfully passed the ASIIN accreditation process. EMU Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School has successfully obtained EDEXCEL accreditation. Last but not least, our University’s Business and Economics Faculty is a full member of EFMD and AACSB along with only three universities in Turkey.
U.K. based Times Higher Education (THE), the publisher of the world's widely referenced university rankings announced the world's best universities rankings on Wednesday, 2 September 2020. Only Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) succeeded in entering the aforementioned ranking by taking its well-deserved place within the 801-1000 band.
In the list featuring a total of 1,527 universities, Eastern Mediterranean University shared the same rank with Istanbul Technical University, Middle East Technical University, and Istanbul University after Bilkent University, Boğaziçi University, and Özyeğin University. A total of 44 universities from Turkey made it to the said list, but only 11 of them have been ranked amongst the first thousand. As per the island of Cyprus, three universities from South Cyprus and only EMU from the TRNC appeared on the list.

EMU was great. I was greatly enriched and will never forget any of the 3.5 years I spent in the department of Public Relations and Advertising. Worst university on earth! They even call themselves a Medical "Faculty" but in fact they are SUPER materialistic and all about mark tampering.
I was a MEDICAL student and i wish i did not waste one year of my life and money, they are extremely racist against internationals that they were failing us and tampering with the marks!and very unproffesional, they even proved how uncooperative they are when they refused to give me my transcripts when i decided to move out of the university!
IF you want to waste your time, money, mental health then go to the "Faculty" of Medicine in this university.

Best 4 years I've had so far, the reception at EMU would make you see Cyprus as home.
If you're looking for a condusive environment for learning, where you can meet and network with people from different nationalities and cultural orientation, EMU is your best bet.

Simply the best for me. Had amazing time during my master's degree in hospitality management. Cyprus is now a place that I consider as home. Even though I left, my heart will always belong to this beautiful island. EMU is a good university to study.
