Eastlea Community School is an outstanding place in which to learn and work. We are proud of the fact that we are a diverse and inclusive community, and these two aspects are embodied in our two greatest assets; our wonderful students and committed staff.
In partnership with students, parents, staff, governors and the wider community, the vision at Eastlea is:
Young people should leave Eastlea with their understanding deepened, their minds enriched, and their hearts inspired, so that they love learning and embrace the challenges of the future.
We as part of the Eastlea community will respect and trust each other in celebration of our diverse heritage and shared future. We will honour and uphold the school’s expectations and what we believe and trust to be right. We will aspire to our potential and educational excellence, strive for physical and economic well-being and contribute to our environment and community. We will continue to improve our lives by learning, caring for our community by being active citizens. We want learning to be exciting and enjoyable, experienced through participation and achievement in a safe environment.
At Eastlea Community School we believe in promoting all strands of literacy. It is for this reason that we have become a certified Accelerated Reader school. Accelerated Reader is a scheme aimed at encouraging students to read for pleasure and develop a life-long love for books. It also enables teachers to accurately assess students’ reading levels and abilities. Above all, this remarkable programme enables parents to access information about their child’s progress from the comfort of their own home.
Our passion for literacy has also resulted in us being involved in Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge, Debate Mate and in most recent times we have had our own version of ‘Ted Talks’ which is aimed at developing a passion for public speaking among our most able students. National events such as World Book Day and National Poetry Day are also given a very high profile across the school and this stand evidence of our commitment to ensuring that every child at our school is left with an unforgettable experience of the benefits of being highly literate.
Student Voice is one of the strengths at Eastlea Community School, a wide cross–section of students willingly volunteer themselves for various initiatives across the school. They are very proud and committed to the school, enthusiastically promoting a broad range of activities to improve the school and wider community. This includes playing an active role in the school’s governing body and recruitment of all the teaching staff. The Eastlea School Council is democratically elected and students on the School Council are very responsible and commit themselves and encourage others to take responsibility for their own learning. Student Council members work on an exciting range of projects and initiatives across the school so that Student Voice really is embedded in everything we do.
At Eastlea Community School, we believe that a student’s ability to enjoy and achieve is best enhanced by a smooth transition between Key Stages. We need to sustain, in our young people an enthusiasm for learning, confidence in themselves as learners and a sense of achievement and purpose. It is therefore important that transition is well planned, in stages and that we should not expect new students to cope with a huge change in teaching organisation and style all at once. We aim to ensure a smooth and effective transition from primary school to Eastlea Community School, in order to help all our young people to feel safe and happy, to have their needs met and to ultimately fulfil their true potential.

The school has close ties with many respected institutions such as the BBC and Microsoft, being a lead school in the Microsoft Partner Schools programme which has impacted the school by giving them early access to new computing devices such as the BBC Micro:bit and having the CEO of Microsoft visit the school.

I love this school specially beacuse their vast array of extra curricular activities has earned them a special place in the students' hearts with clubs like BBC School report, Amnesty International club, Eco Champions, Mandarin club, many sports clubs and much more.

Much respect and love and all that comes from pouring love and effort in to a place and seeing students grow beyond the expectations of society.

This school used to have a bad reputation but I can honestly say this has changed to a truly great school with teachers that work incredibly hard to give the best opportunities to the students.

I am the vice chair Governor at Eastlea and my son also attends. I couldn't have been happier throughout the five years that he has spent at this school. The children are motivated and the teachers care. It's a pleasure being a part of providing the "Eastlea Experience"
