Eastmuir School

Our children, staff, parents and community partners will work together to promote a culture of mutual respect and lifelong learning where children are happy, motivated and confident to enable them to realise their full potential. The Vision we have for our school, is encapsulated in our school motto- “Grow Together, Learn Forever”.

The Eastmuir Vallue characters bring the school values to life in meaningful ways for the children. They are Healthy Harry, Ambitious Abbie, Successful Steve and Respectful Rory. Our Aims are

• To provide a high quality, meaningful and progressive curriculum that supports each child in developing to their full potential, recognising each child's individuality and social competences.
• To work in partnership with colleagues, parents and other professionals to develop skills for learning, life an work.
• To provide a welcoming, nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters positive and healthy attitudes towards self and others.

The aims of Curriculum for Excellence are that every child and young person should know they are valued and will be supported to become a successful learner, an effective contributor, a confident individual and a responsible citizen. Every child and young person should:

Experience a traditionally broad Scottish curriculum that develops skills for learning, skills for life and skills for work, with a sustained focus on literacy and numeracy, that encourages an active, healthy and environmentally sustainable lifestyle and that builds an appreciation of Scotland and its place in the world

The curriculum includes the totality of experiences which are planned for children and young people through their education. It includes the formal and informal curriculum.

The starting point for learning is a positive ethos and climate of respect and trust based upon shared values across the Eastmuir School community. Eastmuir School are building the curriculum and are working towards implementation of a Curriculum for Excellence. We aim to provide a coherent, flexible and enriched curriculum for all our pupils.
