Welcome to the Eltham College
Leading this exceptional school, where both students and staff share a passion for learning and an abundance of co-curricular opportunities, is an immense privilege. Eltham College is a thriving, diverse, co-educational day school situated in 70 acres of grounds in south-east London for boys and girls aged from 7 to 18 years.
We are an academically selective school that was founded in 1842 on Christian principles and recently celebrated our 180th anniversary. Our mission is to provide an outstanding and well-rounded education for girls and boys. We want all our students to have a positive approach to life and to adopt values and behaviours that will help and guide them towards leading happy and fulfilled adult lives.
Our students’ academic success grows from their love of learning. We challenge their assumptions of how this fast-changing world works, and give them the tools they need to explore it themselves. Of course, we want our students to leave with excellent academic results – and they do – but far more than this, we believe in nurturing each child as an individual, and we help them to develop their love of learning, to find their strengths, to explore their interests, and to shape their values and beliefs. We place a strong emphasis on self-respect, humility and the service of others. We help them to aspire to shape their futures and to become the very best versions of themselves as citizens of a globalised and diverse world who choose to make a positive impact.
We have entry points at Year 3, Year 7 and into our Sixth Form at Year 12. Come and see us for yourselves and meet our staff and students – we’d be very pleased to welcome you in person.
Mission and Aims
This mission of the school is to provide an outstanding and well-rounded education for girls and boys, built upon the principles of Christianity. The school aims to be a thriving and leading institution among London day schools. The mission is supported by seven specific school aims that are interdependent and hold equal importance in shaping the overall culture and direction of the school. These aims serve as the foundation for the school’s long-term plans and guide decision-making and action. Together, these aims work to ensure that the school provides an environment where students can grow academically, socially, and spiritually, and develop the skills and character necessary to be successful and responsible members of their communities.
