English International School

The English International School is an International school which welcomes children from 5 to 14 years old. The school was founded in September 1992 with a class of 12 children in Bassano del Grappa. The project was set up by a group of parents who wanted their children to experience an International education and to thereby grow up at ease with many different cultures.

The school is based in a recreational zone of the town with a swimming pool, sports centre, cycle routes and footpaths set around the school. The Villa had been remodelled to make it suitable for its use as a school, but the classrooms preserve much of the original character of the building and the children experience a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by green space in a beautiful setting. Our Mission is to:

• Help children develop an active intelect and a life long curiosity for learning.
• Promote their curiosity to ask questions and to seek answers through rational argument.
• Realise the full potential of each child.
• Stimulate children’s linguistic and mathematical learning processes.
• Develop their aesthetic awareness.
• Encourage the children to take pride in their work and to seek high standards in all that they do.
• Teach the children the appropriate use of the English and Italian languages.
• Develop in all students a respect for moral values and an understanding and appreciation of different Races, Creeds and Cultures.
• Help the children to understand the world around them and the relationships connecting individuals, groups and Nations.
• Encourage team work.
• Help children to grow into capable, confident, rational and positive adults who are able to live their lives productively and to be an active and positive member of their community.
• Promote the development of sound relationships between the children and the staff of the school in a calm and disciplined environment.
• Instill mutual respect and consideration for the needs of others within a united, well-organised community.

In the English International School discipline is based on mutual respect and positive re-inforcement. The aim of the school is to raise self-esteem and reinforce respect for each other to help students choose their behaviour appropriately for every situation. The pupils are expected to maintain excellent behaviour towards their teachers, peers and members of the community. In addition, self-control is insisted upon while moving to and from the sports hall, the playgrounds or the dining hall.

The school’s whole programme is based on putting the child at the heart of their own personal and educational progress through the school. The school offers its students an education of high quality which gives them the necessary intellectual, emotional and linguistic tools for life. The school aims to satisfy the needs of each individual pupil, taking account of their age, experience and ability. The Programme is flexible enough to be adapted to different groups and classes to allow it to be stimulating and productive. Above all, it should stimulate the student to develop a pleasure for life long learning.
