Job Summary

WAB is developing a new program called the Enriched Inclusion Program (EIP) to serve the needs of students with intensive educational needs including those who are twice exceptional.  The EIP Lead Teacher provides leadership and guidance in the development of the EIP at WAB, including advising on the development of WAB’s physical spaces and coordination of all services to be provided through the EIP.  The EIP Lead Teacher case manages students in the EIP as well as oversees the growth and development of the EIP across the three sections of the school. Work Goals and Purpose

WAB is developing a new program called the Enriched Inclusion Program (EIP) to serve the needs of students with intensive educational needs including those who are twice exceptional.  The EIP Lead Teacher provides leadership and guidance in the development of the EIP at WAB, including advising on the development of WAB’s physical spaces and coordination of all services to be provided through the EIP.  The EIP Lead Teacher case manages students in the EIP as well as oversees the growth and development of the EIP across the three sections of the school.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in developing and coordinating programs for intensive need and/or twice exceptional students
  • Relevant Master’s degree
  • Inclusive Needs teacher certification
  • Relevant leadership experience in coordinating or providing oversight of Support Services programs and processes
  • Five years’ experience with inclusive programs, including twice exceptional students and/or gifted and talented students
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team facilitation and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding human relations skills, including a positive, “can do” attitude, and a commitment to collaborative teamwork

Tasks & Responsibilities

Coordination and Collaboration

  • Coordinates with School Wide Educational Psychologist and the School Wide Student Support Services Coordinator and Deputy Director
  • Implement and maintain a long-range vision and a coherent set of procedures aligned with the school’s mission and vision, in the development of WAB’s Enriched Inclusion Program
  • Collaborates in the development of training for Specialized Educational Assistants
  • Collaborates with sectional principals, counselors, and nurses to support the inclusion of EIP students in mainstream and specialist classes through the principle of the Least Restrictive Environment
  • Collaborates with the Admissions Office in screening new students for acceptance and/or placement in the EIP
  • Develops and coordinates schedules for EIP students, including SpL, OT, Counselling, individualized and small group lessons
  • Coordinates schedules for Specialized Teaching Assistants Participates as necessary on the Child Safeguarding and Crisis Management teams
  • Managing EIP facilities and resources and budget
  • Participates in the development and direction for the development of WAB’s whole school Enrichment Program
  • Facilitates access to enrichment opportunities for twice exceptional students

Communication

  • Maintains and disseminates effective communication regarding WAB’s EIP to the parent community
  • Communicates effectively and liaises with classroom teachers, Support Services teachers, clinicians, parents, students, the school Leadership Team, and external service providers
  • Guides and ensures the articulation of differentiated instruction for EIP students in mainstream classes
  • Serves as liaison with external providers of learning support, including private tutors, educational psychologists and diagnosticians, etc.
  • Keeps abreast of research and other developments in the field of Support Services and communicates new learning with colleagues and the community as appropriate
  • Recommend policies, programs and procedures essential to the needs of EIP students
  • Provides EIP orientation to new students, their parents, and new teachers

Case Management

  • Develops Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student
  • Keeps ongoing record of assessment of students’ skills to determine their changing needs and to develop teaching plans accordingly
  • Updates IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students’ progress and goals
  • Guides and supervises Specialized Teaching Assistants in adapting lessons to meet the needs of students
  • Supports teachers in adapting lessons to meet the needs of students Acts as a Progress Mentor to students in small groups, and one-on-one
  • Facilitates discussions with parents, teachers, counselors, and administration that support students’ progress Prepares and helps students transition from grade to grade
