Founded in 1905, the ESME Sudria Engineering School is a private, non-profit higher education institution under the supervision of the French Ministry of Education and Research. We have over a century of experience in training engineers. Our programs provide a broad, well-developed foundation which enables our graduates to succeed in a wide variety of engineering careers.

At ESME Sudria, our mission is to train engineers, through state-of-the-art research, to face the technological challenges ahead: energy transition, new mobility, digital intelligence and health and human services. We also work with industrial and international partners.

ESME Sudria is proud to be a member of the “Grandes Ecoles”, France’s prestigious consortium of high-level engineering and business schools, whose students are selected through highly competitive entrance examinations. We are also recognized by the French Consortium of Engineering Credentials (Commission des Titres d’Ingénieurs – CTI). This enables us to deliver the French national engineering degree (“Titre d’ingénieur”), recognized internationally as a “Master of Engineering”.

All third-year students must complete a semester abroad (outside France). This enhances our future engineers’ training, and allows them to adapt to a new culture and a new language. ESME Sudria students study in total immersion programs at partner universities throughout Europe, the Americas, Asia, Australia and South Africa.

In their fifth year, students may opt for a fully international program by spending an entire year at a partner university. In addition to their ESME Sudria engineering diplomas, they also earn Master of Science from a partner university.

All of our students study and use English in their studies. From the very first year of our preparatory program, students participate in intensive immersion courses, but they can also select our international track and take half of their courses in English. In our engineering program, some courses are taught in English, including courses by visiting professors.

Our students pursue international careers, so we offer and encourage the option of a second foreign language, beginning in the students’ first year. Students can choose from various languages such as German, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Madarin, etc.

At ESME Sudria, we don’t stop at sending our own students to other countries. We also welcome international students from our partner universities and other excellent programs, either as exchange students, free-movers or as visiting research interns. Nearly 10% of our students are from outside France, representing some 20 different nationalities. In order to help foreign students fit in and provide them with a total immersion experience, our international students take standard classes at ESME Sudria and mix with French students. They can take classes in French or in English, and must meet the pre-requisites for each class.

Founded in 1905, ESME Sudria trains multidisciplinary engineers, important professionals in the sectors of the technologies of the future: energy, systems and environment; on-board systems and electronics; images, signals and networks, digital intelligence and data. Its modern teaching method is derived from three components: the importance of innovative spirit; the omnipresence of projects and initiative; and a resolutely international, human, and cultural outlook. Since its creation, more than 14,000 engineers have graduated from its courses. ESME Sudria delivers a Master of Engineering certified by the Engineering Education Commission (CTI) and recognized internationally as a Master of Science.

ESME Sudria offers a five-year curriculum and follows the European academic calendar, with two semesters (September- January and February-June) per year. Full-time students earn 30 credits per semester.

In order to facilitate incoming mobility, ESME Sudria has designed a one-semester International Program that consists of multiple courses focusing on Big Data and the IoT. Depending on their academic backgrounds and projects and on the number of credits they need to complete, students choose the courses they want to take among all the classes offered. This program is open to degree-seeking, exchange students and free movers who meet the courses’ prerequisites.

ESME Sudria’s multi-disciplinary programs are supported by our state-of-the-art laboratories, where our students develop their research skills and learn about the industrial business world. This on-going contact enriches our curriculum and prepares students for their future careers.

The Energy, Systems and Environment Lab teaches students about the various industrial systems involved in the production, operation, transportation and distribution of conventional and/ or renewable electricity. These include the new “smart grid” technologies, as well as advanced control systems for complex mechatronic systems and the development and design of industrial, domestic and bio-mechanical robotic systems.

The Digital and Data Intelligence Lab covers a broad spectrum of career possibilities in all sectors of the industry, and in all areas of work: creating enterprise-level software, administration and optimization of information, analyzing and processing banking information, creating tools for securities traders, designing multi-media signals, processing software and developing complex artificial intelligence systems and neural networks, among others.

The Digital and Data Intelligence Lab has expanded its activities to include cross-disciplinary projects integrated with the other three ESME Sudria laboratories. Digital technology is the foundation of many other areas such as robotics, embedded systems and image processing.
