EtonHouse Zhong Hua is the first childcare centre in Singapore to offer an inquiry-based curriculum delivered exclusively in Mandarin for children from Pre-Nursery to Kindergarten (18 months to 6 years of age).

Mandarin is increasingly an important communication tool for global citizens — it is the most spoken language in the world and China is one of the world’s largest economies. While Mandarin is offered as a Mother Tongue Language in local primary schools, children are usually exposed to the language for only about an hour a day. For children who come from a predominantly English-speaking home, it might not be sufficient to spark interest, much less pick up the language effectively.

EtonHouse Zhong Hua offers an exclusively Chinese-speaking environment delivered by language teachers from China, Taiwan, and Singapore with professional qualifications in early childhood. The early exposure makes it natural for children to think and speak in Mandarin. Over time, they build positive and lasting relationships with the language and culture.

We follow an inquiry-based curriculum that is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Project. With a strong focus on observing and listening, our educators tailor challenging learning experiences to support each child’s ideas, interests, and theories.

Compared to other EtonHouse Pre-Schools, there is a greater emphasis on developing Mandarin literacy skills at EtonHouse Zhong Hua. In the younger years, we focus on acquiring listening and speaking skills. As the children get older, we build up sentence structure, vocabulary, and eventually, reading and writing. This is achieved naturally through our inquiry-based approach as children get accustomed to thinking and communicating in Mandarin across all domains such as arts, numeracy, and play.

We don’t just want to lay a strong foundation for our students to take on Mandarin in the Primary Years and beyond — we want them to develop a genuine love for the language. We do so by encouraging them to experience the rich and beautiful Chinese culture through fun activities like Chinese painting or calligraphy, watching traditional music and dance performances, and celebrating festivals.

Hampton Pre-School is a collaboration between PAP Community Foundation and EtonHouse International Education Group. Charlotte was tasked to manage and to implement the inquiry approach at the school. We believes that the teaching team plays an important part in the children’s learning as collaborative partners.

After a successful tenure at Hampton Pre-School (Bishan), Charlotte returns to EtonHouse to work on a special Mandarin Immersion Curriculum with her teaching team. At EtonHouse Zhonghua, children are exposed to a rich Mandarin cultural experience under the tutelage of a team of Mandarin teachers through the Inquire.Think.Learn framework.

Mountbatten 223 has been a superb learning environment for our son who is now in his k2 year. The attention to detail, the ever-ready well trained teachers and the management of the school, is nothing less than perfection. Our son is blessed to have spent these years growing with friends and teachers who are like family. This largely has to do with Miss Jo who is an exceptional principal and leader! Thank you for all you have contributed to making Etonhouse Mountbatten 223 one of the best decisions we've made for our family. We will be very sad when we have to leave

My daughter Haruhi joined Etonhouse Mountbatten from pre-nursery until N1. She always enjoyed the school and the mandarin classes. Haruhi continues her mandarin after come back to Japan and every year they has a speech contest among the students. This year Harhuri has received the native pronunciation again. This is the second time. Thank you to Eton house for giving her the strong fundamentals.

All four of my school aged children have gone through primary school with EtonHouse at Broadrick Road. This is child-oriented school where teachers & staff know the students by name, there is an emphasis on holistic education (academics, languages, the arts, sport, soft skills), and my children came home everyday happy to be at school. All in all a good learning experience and a top school.

Horrible experience with Eton House 223 @ Mountbatten. How can it be a high quality school when communications are so bad - expectation given when submitting enrolment fee is totally different from what I heard from them today, and I had to call to know the bad news myself. Yikes.

Strongly advised to stay away from EtonHouse CHINA!!! It is run more as a business than a School. The staff is treated unfairly, and the kids education is questionable.
