About the faculty positions available at the Institute for Mathematical Sciences
The Institute for Mathematical Sciences is initially focusing on the following disciplines, but excellent candidates from any area will be given serious consideration. We expect to fill up to six positions in following disciplines:
Pure mathematics: algebraic geometry, differential geometry, partial differential equations, number theory, probability.
Theory of Computing: all areas of theoretical computer science, especially algorithms and computational complexity.
Applied mathematics: computational mathematics, statistics and data science, physical mathematics, mathematical and computational biology, biostatistics, mathematical finance, operations research, actuarial sciences.
Faculty appointments at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences consist of four levels: Postdoctoral fellow, assistant professor, associate professor and full professor. New faculty members are expected to be appointed as either assistant or associate professors depending on experience. The teaching load of all faculty members is 1+1.
Assistant professors are expected to be young mathematicians who have a demonstrated potential to be leading researchers internationally. These “tenure-track” positions have a six-year duration. Associate professors are established experts in their field. These tenured positions are permanent.
Postdoctoral fellow positions are also available for young scientists.
Salaries are competitive and subsidized housing is available for faculty in the faculty village on campus.
