We are a vibrant school, a place filled with laughter and fun, where your children are encouraged, nurtured and motivated at every turn. A school, where boys are cared for and valued as individuals in a happy family atmosphere. When your son joins us, he will have many opportunities to grow academically, on the sports field, artistically, on stage, and to take leadership responsibilities in many different areas.

We foster a curiosity to learn by offering a curriculum that has breadth, balance and challenge. At Falcons we place a strong emphasis on how the boys conduct themselves and interact with one another. Trust, honesty, good manners, a hardworking attitude and respect are core values.

Falcons Preparatory School for Boys welcomes boys from ages 7-13. Our main point of entry is Year 3 or 4, at age 7 & 8. We also accept boys into Year 7, for families looking for preparatory places before moving to day and boarding senior schools at 13+. Occasional places may also be available in other years up to Year 8. Contact the Registrar for details of occasional places.

Falcons Preparatory School is a selective school and all candidates are invited for entrance assessments before being offered a place. All our assessments take place in the classroom environment and include age appropriate tests in English and Mathematics, as well as an interview. References from their current school are also requested. Places will be offered to successful candidates following the assessments.

Boys applying for entry into Year 3 & 4 will be invited to group assessments scheduled throughout the academic year. Our assessments take place in a relaxed and fun atmosphere designed to get the best out of all the boys.We also welcome families living overseas relocating to the Richmond area. Please contact the Registrar to check the availability of places in different age groups. Entrance assessments and testing can be conducted remotely in their current schools if required.

At Falcons Prep we place a strong emphasis on how the boys conduct themselves and interact with one another. Trust, honesty, good manners, a hardworking attitude and respect are intrinsic in all that we teach. We understand the importance of physical activity for the health, well-being and behaviour of young boys and pride ourselves in our sport provision. Our core sports are football, rugby and cricket and we also run extensive programmes including hockey, swimming, athletics, cross-country, gymnastics, squash and tennis, archery, handball, golf and skiing. A wide range of clubs, residential trips and educational visits further enhance our outdoors provision.

The Falcons Preparatory School for Boys believes that every boy should leave school as a well-rounded and confident individual. Leavers continue to achieve outstanding results to leading schools both day and boarding schools including: King’s College, Hampton, St Paul’s, Emanuel, Brighton College and Epsom College and all achieve their secondary school goals.

The boys follow the Common Entrance Syllabus in the Upper School, thoroughly preparing them for transition to their chosen senior school. Boys have the option to move to their senior school through either 11+ or 13+ common entrance selection processes. The school meets with parents regularly to offer support and guidance to ensure that the correct choices for schools are made.

All classes are taught by qualified and highly skilled teachers and are ably assisted by classroom assistants, who work across all the classes in the school. Year 3 and 4 classes are taught in their form groups. English and Mathematics are taught by form tutors daily. All other subjects are taught by either specialist teachers or form tutors.

As the boys move through the school, from Year 5 to Year 8, all subjects are taught by specialist staff, except for PSHE which is taught by form tutors as part of the pastoral care structure. English and Maths are set at this stage. The boys experience a wide range of learning opportunities, including day trips each term and a residential trip each year, ensuring that they experience learning both inside and outside of the classroom. The learning experience is enhanced by the opportunity to perform in our annual concerts and plays and exhibit their art work at our annual Arts Exhibition.

The boys are always our first priority. Every boy has the right to feel happy, safe and valued in caring and supportive surroundings. Our knowledgeable and experienced staff ensure outstanding levels of teaching and pastoral care.

Every boy has equal access to the full curriculum and well-planned purposeful activities. The school’s behaviour policy is embedded and central to the success of our community. It ensures that all members of the school can live and work together in a supportive way. We actively promote and reward good behaviour and believe that this will develop a culture of mutual respect, kindness and co-operation. We expect parents to support their son’s learning, and to co-operate in partnership with the school. The dialogue and rapport between home and school is close, and we inform parents as soon as we can if there are concerns about their son’s welfare or behaviour.
