Set in a Grade II listed building established in 1907, Franciscan Primary School is a two form entry school in the London Borough of Wandsworth, catering for children between the ages of 3 and 11.

We are a Rights Respecting School and our vision is to provide an education of the highest quality within the context and understanding of shared values; care, consideration, cooperation, honesty, responsibility, respect and openness. Overall as a school we endorse UN Convention on the Rights of the Child(CRC) and this is at the heart of our school ethos : rights and respect in all relationships, whether between children or children and adults. We aim to empower children to engage in collaborative decision making and develop positive relationships on all levels across the school community.

At Franciscan Primary we have a dedicated, enthusiastic and talented team of staff who are committed to providing a broad and balanced curriculum. We provide a calm, nurturing learning environment where teachers really know their pupils and their parents, and where every child can flourish. We believe it is important that our children have a wide range of educational opportunities to help develop socially and academically.

We are proud of our school and the rich cultural diversity that enriches us all and so enabling us to ‘Achieve Excellence Together’. Franciscan Primary School aims to enable all its pupils to realize their full potential and provides them with every opportunity to succeed. We want every pupil to leave our school with a love of learning and well prepared for their transition to secondary school. High ambitions, hard work and high achievement are at the heart of our school along with our aim to nurture the personal qualities of every child. They are taught the importance of good behaviour, to believe in themselves and to never give up. We care about their health, happiness and well-being. We look forward to developing good working relationships with you so that your child benefits the most from their time at our school.

At Franciscan we constantly strive for success and believe all our children can achieve excellence through high quality, inspirational teaching and learning. We value the cultural diversity of our school community which is at the heart of our vision and ethos.

We aim to be

  • A welcoming school where everyone matters in a caring, safe and secure environment.
  • An aspirational school with high expectations, that promotes a lifelong love of learning through a fun, challenging and creative curriculum.
  • A school which encourages and motivates each pupil to be the best they can be, through developing a positive attitude.
  • A school community in which everyone shows respect and takes responsibility for themselves, others and the environment.
  • An inclusive school that explores and celebrates diversity, working with the wider community to enrich the learning experiences for all.
  • A nurturing school offering opportunities to develop the whole child, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally building self-esteem and confidence.

At Franciscan we teach a curriculum that is exciting, fun and imaginative. Walk into any of our Classrooms and you can expect to find children engaged in thinking, questioning and learning. Like all schools within the public sector, we follow the National Curriculum which sets out the content and the programmes of study for most of what we teach at Franciscan. Our aim is to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for years 1 to 6 which follows on from the Foundation Stage.

The core curriculum subjects of English, Mathematics and Science follow the National Curriculum. Other subjects (referred to as 'Foundation' are taught through the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), these include Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Design Technology, History, Geography, Art, Music and Physical Education. Religious Education and Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE) and French in key stage 2.
