Funful Kindergarten and Children's Corner

Our school, chinese name was named by Dr. Gordon PEI. It means fun from all corners of the world. He wants all teachers to give fun to all their pupils. The English name Funful was named by Mr. Juling Chen. Funful means full of fun. When he gave this name, he said,” Learning is fun, children should grow among this fun.” We maintain our principle, establish our school with love, teach with love and educate with love. We use love to practice our school motto, Faith, Hope, Love and Truth.”

Funful encourages children to have a positive attitude towards learning, read extensively, pay attention to self-respect, hygiene, politeness, manner and maintaining good relationship with others, good relationship between parents and children. We encourage children to take part in Happy Bee and Junior Road Safety Patrol. Children are thus able to broaden their horizon.

Funful brings classrooms to the community. Our headmistress frequently takes our pupils overseas to places such as Beijing, Shanghai and Wuhan for exchange program. She has also taken our choir to sing in Australia, Vienna and the Philippines. Members can widen their scope of vision. They also learn different ways of getting along with people. Pupils also take active roles in community services, they learn to be global citizens. They have a caring heart towards their families ,friends and neighbours. These will benefit them throughout their whole life.

The school is situated in a cozy and pleasant environment. There is an outdoor playground stimulates the children’s interest and allows them to explore their latent ability. Equipment in the outdoor playground helps children to develop their motor skills. The indoor gym is mainly used in the summer when it is rainy and hot outside. Other function rooms include a dancing hall, singing/music room, teaching aids room, language corner, library corner, nature corner and family area. It is ideal an place for learning.

The teaching staff devotes their time and effort into creating a warm and loving learning environment for our children. Through their devotion and care, our children have become outstanding and knowledgeable individuals with integrity. Our parents have shown their trust and support towards the contribution and hard work of our staff. With the constant review and improvement of our work, the children are also growing and improving together with the school.

We believe that learning is everywhere. We understand that all individuals have different abilities. The school designs a comprehensive and well-balanced curriculum, in order to benefit our children. The school has an aim to develop the children’s physical, mental, speech, emotional and aesthetic growth. We also care for the needs of our pupils according to their abilities, interests and experiences. Lessons are planned in such a way that activities, quiet learning, small group and whole class teachings are being held throughout the day.

Topics are arranged in themes, which are closely related to the experience and interest of the children. Children learn through activities that are arranged with definite aims. They have a chance to explore and broaden their knowledge, develop their skills and right attitude.

Funful has been emphasizing on the importance of Putonghua ever since the establishment of the Primary section, Putonghua has been the medium of instruction in Chinese Language. Our teachers have always explained to the pupils the reason for learning Putonghua. Teachers used to teach the pupils that after the handover in 1997, Putonghua would become a popular dialect. This has indeed become a reality. Hong Kong is now part of China, and china is becoming stronger and stronger. Putonghua is now an important spoken language. Even in the western countries, Putonghua learners are increasing at a very rapid rate. We are glad that our Funful children are starting to learn Putonghua at the Kindergarten stage. Not only can they speak fluently , their writing skill is also outstanding as a result.

Funful Group of Schools uses 2 languages and 3 dialects as the media of instruction in order to give our children a solid foundation for the future. Both Chinese and English are of equal importance. We have also achieved outstanding results in Speech and Music Festivals in the inter-school competitions. We have often seen Funful alumni taking part in the secondary section of the Speech Festival. We are proud to say that Funful has made outstanding contribution in the promotion of Putonghua in Hong Kong.

Besides our academic achievements, we also teach our children to be caring and responsible citizens , taking up active roles in community services. These services include the Happy Bee, Junior Road Safety Patrol, Walk for Million, fund raising activities. Every year during the Lunar New Year, Funful children donate part of their red packets money to help those in need.
